All I'm saying is that the camera comparison has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.
Bad graphics CAN affect gameplay, if they make it so you can't tell what's going on. It's irrelevant to this discussion, however.
The Barney song in GTA would suck to be sure, but it wouldn't affect the actual gameplay.

Ok... you can turn off music in a game and still have a good game experience. You can't turn off the graphics or the camera or the characters or the weapons or whatever and still have a good game. As for you not being able to turn off Barney - I don't know about you, but my TV came with a mute button.

Have you ever thought, that maybe, just maybe.. the music actually WORKS for the game? I mean.. I HATE new rock.. yet, the music in Crazy Taxi really works for that game, and makes it an enjoyable experience.. I would never listen to that crap outside of the game, but in the game, it works.
I mean for ****'s sake, the game is about CRIME in LOS ANGELES..

Like Trigger said, worst case scenario you turn off the game music and pop in a CD or your liking. No biggie. I turn off the music on alot of games when it becomes intrusive.

I think this kind of music fits the game. I was a bit sketchy when I heard that Vice City was going to have all 80s music because I don't like 80s music, but it works because it fits the game. Most games go for atmospheric type music, game music or sound that fits the game, so I think that hip-hop music may fit this game (even though i haven't seen much of it).

Galanthas: Did you like the music that is on rap station (Game FM) in GTA3?. If you did like it, do you know any of rappers that rapped on Game FM cause if you didn't, you will most likely like the music in True Crime. Sounds like a crappy logic but if you about it, it does work.

Since the whole HK flick meets US shores deal, this fits quite nicely. The Corrupter, Romeo Must Die, Cradle to the Grave, etc. etc.
I believe this is pretty much where the developers were trying to go with this game.. if the soundtrack didn't make it quite obvious.
The website has the whole feel going too. http://www.truecrimela.com
Watch the training videos too. Hilarious stuff. http://www.activision.com/microsite/eodla

I'll put it simple, if you liked the rap music on GAME FM in GTA3, then you will like some of rap music in True Crime. Why, because some songs will carry on the same style that is in GTA3 GAME FM and True Crime.

I'm not a big fan of rap. Well I did buy Run DMC's first couple albums back in the day...but I digress. It's not that big a deal about the rap soundtrack. I'm sure in the options section you can turn the game music off. That's what I'm probably going to do.
