so wireless next to my cable modem would let me use my xbox and put my kid online as well-xbox would be hooked up in my living room about 5`away(-)but~id like to move it into my Theater Room 8` screen at times,thats about 50`away-,my Kids room would stay about 25`-if 50`is to far or a pain in the ass to move i can not play online in there!!!!!

Yeah. It sounds like you need a wireless router system. At least your kid can have her computer online, so that should help "justify" the expense.
I wonder how many people buy a Live Starter Kit or a PS2 modem without knowing that you need the router as well? (OK, you can use the PS2 dial up without the router, but besides that). At least some of the third party developers are putting out simple solutions. I saw a Mad Catz router at BB yesterday.
