BIG GBA title coming at the end of the year?

I think they're referring to Mother1+2, which was already announced.... but could it be something else?

And why does Japan get everything first Makes me want to learn Japanese.

From IGN:
Big Game Boy Advance Title Coming?
Rumors point to a massive title for year's end.

August 19, 2003 - A recent rumor column in Japan's Dengeki GC gaming publication suggests that something big is in store for the Game Boy Advance. According to the publication, the system will see a super big (dare we say it -- Mega big) title released to Japan at the end of the year. This title is assured sales of a million, and could even reach sales of two million copies.
There aren't too many GBA games we can think of that could possibly achieve such numbers (and they all begin with Pokemon). The magazine promises clarification in its next issue, so stay tuned for next month!

Mother 1&2 would definitely sell at least a million in Japan.

Here also. Here's hoping they release it!! That way I can finally play Earthbound and see what all the fuss is about

But that was already widely known. That's the only part that's not fitting in.

Mother1+2 was released a few weeks ago in Japan and it has been doing very well. There still isn't a US release date yet....but I'm keeping my fingers crossed, it was one of my favorite games on the SNES.

IGN pulled something like this on us last christmas, it sounds good but I'm going to remain skeptical until they have some solid proof. Good thing we only have to wait a month .

I loved Earthbound on the SNES. There is just something special about an RPG that comes with a scratch and sniff strategy guide.

Mother 1+2 is already out.

I hope it gets released here too.. Earthbound is awesome.

Perhaps the title they are referring to is the new Zelda game Capcom has been working on..? It really is hard to imagine a mega-huge game that hasn't been announced or even hinted at to be out by the years end unless they're kept it secret.

maybe a Mega man game?
No, no.. I think you misread "Selling a million copies" as "A million versions of the same game".

I would be willing to put up a sum of money to bet that Mother 1&2 don't sell a million copies.

They're discussing it at IGN http://boards.ign.com/message.asp?to...136&replies=52

They think it's either a new Mario, a new Zelda, or Pokemon Emerald (with Pokemon Emerald being the front contender).

I thought the Capcom Zelda game turned out to be Four Swords, or is there another one?

I'm almost postivie Capcom is working on another Zelda game. I remember Miyamoto mentioning it in an interview, and he said it would be in a graphic style similar to Four Swords.

Nope.. they have been working on a GBA Zelda since before Four Swords.. Nintendo had them halt that project to create a mini-game to couple with the release of Link to the Past.. other than the fact that it's been mentioned that Capcom was working on a GBA Zelda, nothing else has been said or seen.

I can't believe that someone guessed Mother 1 + 2!
1) the game was already announced
2) the game is already OUT in Japan
3) the game has only sold about 250,000, and has already dropped to #26 on the chart.

Geez...people, use some imagination! Mother 3 is also already announced, so that can't be it either!

If they can guarantee a million copies, it can only mean one thing:

Dragon Quest on the GBA.

(well, or something of that magnitude)

I can also guarantee that Dragon Quest won't sell a million copies.

No, here in the US. I know it's huge in Japan. There's no friggin way that a Dragon Quest game will sell 1/2 of what it does in Japan.

Umm... considering it's a Japanese magazine who is saying this, what makes you think this has any relevance to the US? Selling a million or 2 in Japan is pretty easy in Japan for a Dragon Quest title.

I know, and that is why I clarified my statement. I know the Dragon Quest games are hugely popular in Japan. I have no doubt that it will sell over a million there. I was simply pointing out the fact that if it is ported for the US market, it won't reach the same sales achievements.

And he was simply pointing out that your point is irrelevant, as this is a Japanese magazing reporting a rumor of a big GBA release by the end of the year in Japan, claiming it will sell a million there.

There's no mention of the U.S. in the story at all.

Damn skippy.

If it IS a Dragon Quest game.. it'll probalby be ANOTHER remake.. Of course, I'll buy the import and the domestic (if they release one) because the series just rocks. Also, if they follow their pattern.. the next portable remake happens to be DRAGON QUEST IV aka THE BEST DAMN RPG EVER CREATED.

Rumor has it that a Paper Mario GCN is coming. There's also gonna be a Mario KartD bonus disc giveaway. Three free discs within a year is cool with me (Zelda:OOT, Star Wars:RS III and now Mario Kart). Keep em coming.
