Rebel Strike demo-Impressions

So I walk into work today and behold in the Gamecube kiosk be a new demo disc! I scroll down the demos and to my suprise Rebel Strike was on this disc! So in spoiler form here is a break down of how the demo plays...why spoiler form? Well better to be safe than sorry.

Spoiler:
Ok youll be pleased to know the demo is of Hoth. It opens with movie clips from Empire...namely of Luke getting shot down. Once on foot you must take down two At-AT walkers with your graplinng hook, lightsaber and thermal detanator. Once under the walker you use the C-stick to grapple onto the walker, from there you press up on the analog stick, press B to ignite Luke's saber. From there it goes into first person as you lob a thermal detonator into the hull of the walker. Move outta the way before you get smashed and repeat this process on the second walker. Once youve done that youll notice one of the rebels is on a Taun Taun awaiting you to follow him. But before you can ride away to safety you have to take out some Snow Troopers and Imperial Probe droids. But once you take down the trooper you can pick up his assault rifle. Once your riding on your Taun Taun you make your way through the battlefiled shooitng down more troopers making your way to a tripod cannon. Once you take out the trooper you man the tripod cannon. From here you take down three At-St walkers and more Snow Troopers. from here you take control of an X-Wing escorting the rebel fleet off of Hoth....and this is where I got owned!

Catch all that? I know this is just an early demo but I already want this game, and its a definate buy now for me. this demo should be up and running in most stores by this week. oh and this demo disc also features a playable track for FZeroGX
Until next time..

Your friendly neighborhood AT-AT slaying...

oh and something I forgot to add about the flight portion...Maybe because I have played Rogue Leader since I beat but the flight part feels pretty much the same. The HUD is also the same but the targeting computer looks different to me. All in all it was great to finally play a demo of this!

I've enjoyed the Rogue Squadron games, and over the years their quality has improved vastly. I'm really looking forward to this one.

I brought the disc home Sat. night and played 'em. The Hoth level is bad a**. F-Zero is awesome and I even had a lot of fun with 1080. Two weeks for F-Zero-can't wait.

What stores normally have these demo discs? (They are free right?)

Right now I think these are in-store only. Nintendo would make some extra cash if they just sold these like they did before or PS2 does now. Playing a few PS2 demo discs actually kept me from buying a couple of games but Nintendo would have the reverse effect IMO (Viewtiful Joe turned out to be a must have, Billy Hatcher showed promise).

You can only play these demos in store they are not discs that are given away. If you work at or know someone that works at a game store you can borrow it and take it home.

I believe there will be a preorder deal on Rebel Strike that gives you a free disc which I would assume includes a demo of the game, but I'm not sure when it starts.

yeah they are in-store. I forgot that my town sucks when it comes to getting demos and stuff on time, I checked BB, TRU and gamestop (all in walking distance right next to each other) and none had the new demo.

Zero, is it written somewhere in Gamecrazy when the Rebel Strike Demo disc pre-order thing starts?

EB has a 9/3/03 date. That might mean the 4th for release or it could be when the pre-order starts. No telling.

Now the EBgames website has a shipment date of 8/26/03. Hell I don't know. It better be soon though.
