Just got a Gamecube...now what

So I picked up a Gamecube, Zelda, and Animal Crossing from Target for $161 total via their buy a Gamecube and get a $50 gift card free. Not a bad deal, but YMMV on getting both the free game and the gift card, as some of the employees are jerks about it. One employee wouldn't shut up about how Target "isn't participating in the free game promotion". Yeah, okay.

Anyhow, Zelda is great from what I have played so far. I haven't even gotten to play Animal Crossing yet. What are some must have games for the GC? I have been thinking about getting Metroid Prime, and Resident Evil 0, but other then that I am stumped.

Also, how much do memory cards run, and what size cards are good?

Almost forgot...what is the story behind the classic NES games in Animal Crossing? How and where do you get them?

There are several threads on here like this. Try doing a search. Another tatic is to goto ranking sites and vie their top 25 games or so and see what you might like.

There are some great exclusive games on the system, but none have been so great to make me cry.

Which games have made you cry? You most be really emotional, which is cool. Oh I know, I bet you you nearly had a breakdown once Link's sister was kidnaped. Or is it because of your love affair with Peach and Mario just keeps getting in the way?

Regardless I think it's great you can be so into your game playing. I applaud your ability to be so connected to your feelings.

Animal Crossing is hands down the game I've "played" most on the cube . Two NES games should be given to you as presents when you start. The others can be bought, found, traded. If you have the extra cash pick up a Animal Crossing cheat disk at EB/Gamestop for $10. It should unlock all the games. I would also say don't cheat at the catalog. It's kinda fun working at finding stuff on your own. If you have a GBA-IMO the e-reader is a must have for this game. I've uploaded tons of items and Nintendo inspired designs for my clothes/wallpaper/carpet.

I picked up Mario Golf last night and it is way fun. Super Monkey Ball 2 is worth checking out. Luigis Mansion is quite innovative (sounds like Rare ripped off L.M. for Grabbed by the Ghoulies). The Sonic the Hedgehog titles are enjoyable too. I hope you got the free demo disk.

Metroid Prime-game of the year. Nuff said. Try it.

As far as the original poster. Metroid Prime is a must own game and I would recommend it next.

Other games I have enjoyed:
Resident Evil
Super Mario Sunshine
Monkey Ball Series
Eternal Darkness
Sonic Adventure DX

Also: Mario Golf and FZero are coming out soon.

From: Mayberry, NC. Really, it is
I can't believe Mario Kart hasn't been mentioned yet.

Granted, it won't be out until November, but I want a GC just to play this (and when the 'cube hits $99, it is mine ).

Resident Evil
Resident Evil 0
Metroid Prime

Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance kept me entertained for the cost.

Soul Calibur II looks great and depending on your tastes in the exclusive character (Link looks like he will be awesome in SC II)and the controller you may pick it up for the GC.

Definitely pick up a wave bird.

I will be picking up my GBA player for my GC this week to play GBA games with my son using the GC and TV.

For memory cards go 251, and use the $5 off best buy coupon on it and on everything else. Before you ask further ... read the videogames FAQ thread.

I also have Eternal Darkness but have not had time to crack it open. It can be had pretty cheap brand new if you look in the right places.

I don't know if you have other systems or not, but I am playing Tiger Woods 2003 the most right now. Tony Hawk 3 got major time from me as well.

I don't know if there is a GC exclusive game that isn't decent, to be honest. It really depends on what type of games you enjoy. Animal Crossing and Pikmin are great fun as well.

I'm enjoying my Gamecube, having played Starfox, Ikaruga, Mario Sunshine, Mario Party 4, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Metroid Prime. And nothing compares to playing them with the Wavebird.

Agreed. The wavebird is by far one of the greatest things around.

I'll testify to that as well. One of the greatest peripherals I've purchased. I wish there were first party wireless controllers for the other consoles.

A wavebird is a must buy. I have never even used the controller packaged in with my cube.

I know - I wish the PS2 had a decent wireless controller. I hate the cheesy, kinked up extension cable I have to use so I can sit more than 3 feet from the television.

...also, the cord sweeping across the coffee table knocks over my beer bottles... gargh!!!!
