I bought mine through ebgames.com a bit ago and I didn't see that they offered any warranty. There is the Microsoft plan for $50 but wondered if there is a better option. Anyone?

AFAIK the MS deal is all you can get. If you bought it somewhere like Best Buy or Circuit City you could have gotten their warranty.

I got mine from CC last week, is it really worth getting the extended on a xbox? Is it worth the $40-50

I don't buy extended warranties on anything.

I figure I if I bought a warranty for every electronic component I by, I'd end up spending more on the warranties than the cost of replacing a component that craps out.

Maybe for a $1,000+ TV or something it would be worth considering it, but not for a $180 console or other cheaper components like DVD players and what not.

Pretty much all electronics come with 90 day warranties. For the most part this is fine, if something's a lemon, it will probably break within that period.

I've heard MS is pretty good about fixing/replacing stuff that breaks after the period, though it may take a few calls to get a rep to take care of it for you.

you should buy used and refurbished items and get an extended warranty. Then you save, and your safe.

he means you should put a mod chip in it, which negates your warranty. and its not the easiest thing to do.

Dave, I wasn't think, but you could give them a call and see if you can get any kind of extended warranty through them after the fact. They might have just not had it listed on the site. I know I heard an employee in EB driving a guy nuts trying to sell some kind of protection plan for the PS2 he was buying.

I believe Visa has some extended warranty options, not sure what the rates are though. Might be worth checking whichever CC you made the purchase on.
