Upload bandwidth and online games?

Verizon recently upgraded my DSL service from 768KBps to 1.5MBps download, but the upload speed stayed at 128KBps. How does the upload bandwidth affect the speed of online games? Will the limited upload speed cancel any effect I would normally see from the faster download speed? How much info is really sent when playing online?

Thanks.

Upload speed will only affect your ability to act as a server.

I concur. The key performance factor in online gaming connectivity is latency (you might know this as ping). Even a dialup modem connection can provide acceptable latency if the ISP has their equipment setup properly (but this is rarely the case).
