DVD Talk Platinum Edition
I have a couple questions about this game so I figured I'd ask them here.
I like the military-type genre so I'm thinking about getting this game over Medal of Honor and Ghost Recon because it's online. I know nothing about the 3 games however so here are my questions about SOCOM:
1.) How important is the headset for online play? I'd rather not spend the extra $20 if it's a luxury rather than a semi-necessity. But if it's annoying to everyone else online if you don't have a headset, I guess I'll have to get it.
2.) How fun/hard is it in single-player mode offline? Is it one of those games that is pretty worthless unless you play it online?
3.) I may not play it online that much so are either of the other two games I mentioned that much better to the point that I might as well get one of them instead?

1. IMO the headset is a nessecity. if you dont have the headset and you host a game no one can use there headset.
2. its fun offline but its a completely different game. single player is easier to give your computer teammates commands.
3.socom is good online and offline but online is so much better. get socom

1) The headset is very important. Communication during the game is essential, IMO.
2) Offline, it's still a pretty good game. The AI of your computer-controlled teammates seems retarded at times, but overall it offers a pretty decent gameplaying experience.
3) I'm sure everyone will tell you that it's a whole different game online. I haven't played Ghost Recon, but I know that Medal of Honor is a great game with outstanding presentation, even though it's a bit linear. For the single player experience, I actually prefer Medal of Honor, but overall I'd recommend SOCOM because once you get used to online play, you'll more than likely be hooked. Give yourself time to adjust to online play and you'll see what I mean.
