Fusion Frenzy - party game - easy and fun
Cel Damage - fun cartoon graphics and it's not difficult
Burnout 2 - fun and easy racer where you're expected to crash.
Mad Dash Racing - fun family racer
Outlaw Golf - forget Tiger Woods - this one is 100x more fun and easier
Halo - awesome game - not too difficult - co-op mode
The Sims - easy and fun for a couple
Silent Hill 2 - scary game and not difficult - horror/adventure
Quantum Redshift - anti-gravity racing. easy and fun
Hunter: The Reckoning - hack-em-up fun for up to 4 people
Dark Summit - cheap and easier than SSX Tricky... better too IMO

Don't get DOAX unless your wife is into gratuitous CG girls with big boobs in bikinis.

I was reading some games magazines and I thought of you

There's a Shrek mini-game (a la Fusion Frenzy/Mario Party) coming out soon.

I would like to mention The Hulk. Although it might not be the best most in depth game ever, it was pretty fun. The control scheme is very easy, with I believe 3 main buttons to fight with, very reminiscent of old school beat-em-up games. Definetly worth atleast a rental.

I think he probably used up all his good luck just by having a wife who is into video games...

We have a very similar situation here at our house. What we do is rent games before we buy them.

We got tired of spending $50 on games only to get frustrated and give up on them.

We rarely ever buy without renting first any more.

To get out of the courtyyard you must go up some stairs on the left side then jump acroos to a ledge/walkway on the right. Walk around the walkway and you'll see the door you need to go through. Hope this helps.
I'm telling you we were totally stuck there. Buffy was going nowhere and we would have NEVER guessed that you could have made that jump. As soon as we saw the area that you described we couldn't believe that we hadn't even entertained it as a possiblity. We felt retarded. Maybe we are.

Then we made the jump...after a few falls. .. and my wife told me to tell you that she loves you. I think she was kidding.

However, as soon as we were in, we ended up in getting a janitor's key, which we thought was gonna be important, but after staking the vamp, the key just let us back out of the door we came in. Then we ened up back in the courtyard AGAIN facing off against some demon dog which killed Buffy dead. My wife told me to tell you that she doesn't love you anymore.

I'm gonna have to go to that site. I wish you had some idea of what to expect or what to look for. I cant find the hints thing that was mentioned. We spent hours in the courtyard, then finally got in, ended up inside for 3 minutes and ended up back in the courtyard. Jeez!

We'll probably rent games too. But I think we want the SSX Tricky or the Surfing as buy. Hockey is a must if I can figure out which one to get. And the X-Files and new Buffy are gonna set us back.

I think we might have to skip Halloween and Thanksgiving this year so that we can afford games, DVDs, and Christmas.

But renting presents unique problems. We never know when we're gonna have free time and we don't like to sit and play for long stretches. We play Sega GT last night and both of our wrists were aching after 30 minutes. So, like sex at our age, we can only handle small doses at a time. I kid.

But I think we'd feel the pressure to play and to learn and then it would be due back. How long can you keep the games? I think our plan is to have 10 or so games and just a little bit of each kind of game. That will keep us busy until we're forced to buy X-Box 2. I miss the days when I was a little boy playing asteroids and this other game where you flew a rocket ship and then had to go down and pick up people that were like stick-figures. I barely remember it anymore.

One last question, and much thanks for all the help, but if I buy the DVD thing, can I play an all region PAL DVD with no problem? Are you sure? We have a couple of those we can only watch on the computer and I'd like to see them on a bigger screen.

Thanks again.

I recommend watching the cut-scenes as they sometimes give clues as to what to do or where to go.

Keys are always important, they open locked doors or chests depending on the game. You are supposed to end up back in the courtyard. You'll face 2-3 vamps and 2 hellhounds. You'll need to go through the door opposite the door you originally started the level. The door was originally locked but now is open. You'll do a lot of back-tracking in this game.

Have patience, you should explore the levels, you'll find a lot secrets. Don't be in a rush to finish the game, take your time and enjoy it. I think the hints feature is in the options screen, it's been a while since I played so the following procedure may be wrong: pause the game, choose options, find the hints option and turn it on. Remember it gives hints, not a walkthrough of the game.

Here's a link to a complete walkthrough of Buffy:

Block Buster rentals last a week.

They've got some good games in their new Platinum lineup (ie. $20 or less -- Target had them for $16.44 last week).

Blood Wake is really easy on the easiest setting -- at least for the first 1/2 of the game. Lots of fun -- pretty simple -- drive your boat around and shoot stuff up. Nothing complicated.

WE MADE IT TO THE LIBRARY! WE MADE IT TO THE LIBRARY!

Yo, yo, yo, yo, Buffy is in the house! Well, actually, she's in the library.

And we didn't even look at that walk through site yet. We were both so excited to play "that" long without getting stuck or killed, that we paused the game. We wanted to be able to go to sleep in a good mood tonight.

Thanks, GatorDeb. This forum has the nicest people in it by far. Video Games must make people happy.

If we ever figure out how to play one, we'll let you know if it works for us.

Thanks for all the help folks.

Sounds like you're leaving the game on pause and sleeping. You do know that it automatically saves after each section right?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, could you explain? There isn't any way to save the game other than to pause and stop. How exactly do you know what a section is? I saw that when we paused before that it started all over back in the gym, which is the beginning, so that was a section. Then, later, it saved and made us go back and start from the courtyard, then you helped me and we got Buffy inside, but we never knew when specifically we were in a place that we could stop without having to go back. We did figure that the Library was going to be one of those places, but that one was kind of obvious. Is there any other way to do it? Thanks.

Outlaw Golf is a great fun game. It's easier and funner than Tiger Woods, I'd say.

Serious Sam - Easy game that is a lot of fun. You basically just sit around killing millions of creatures. "Kiddie-like" for some reason

Hunter: The Reckoning - Nice multiplayer game. I haven't gotten far enough to know if it's easy or not. Maybe someone can help elaborate?

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 - Very easy game to get used to. A lot of fun too...

Hope I helped somewhat.

As for hockey, NHL Hitz is probably the way to go. No refs, no rules, etc.

I've heard that you can play PAL DVD's fine on a US Xbox, but I haven't tried it yet. If the DVD's are multi-region, then they should work fine with the US DVD remote. I have about 5 or so PAL DVD's I want to play on my Xbox, but they are Region 2, so I can't play them with the US DVD remote. I want to get a Region 2 remote so I can play them on my Xbox, but supposedly once you put a certain region remote sensor in there, you can't use a different one.

dolphinboy if you haven't turned on the hints yet, I would suggest that you do so. The next stage in the game has a part that can drive you nuts if you don't know how to avoid it. The hints will help, and this statmenet will hopefully make sense.

The game does save your progress automatically. It usually occurs when the cut scenes happen. So you enter the Library and it saves. You enter the courtyard for the first time and it saves. It saves very often so you won't have to redo much of the levels when you do die.

It doesn't seem as if you read the instruction booklet. I would recommend this since it mentions auto saving, hints feature, and other things that may help you. The instruction booklet is your friend.

Saving is automatic, you don't have to do anything. It's not the same as pausing and stopping, this will only start you where you paused. Starting a saved game will take you back to the beginning of the section/level. It's been a while since I played but a section usually ends with a cutscene (not including cutscenes before bosses), you will also lose control of Buffy as the game takes over and walks her out a door or something. A section usually begins by telling you where you're at. For example: Gymnasium, Courtyard, Boiler Room, Library.

When you start playing again, choose continue and scroll down the list of levels completed. Load the last one to continue where you left off, or others to replay them, or see how a section begins so you have a feel of when a new section starts.

Thanks for the advice. I read it cover to cover...no skimming this time. Lots of good stuff, but no mention of a hints feature.

It's on page 9, actually under Tips. All it says is "Enable gameplay hint text by selecting ON or OFF."

Here are the steps:

When on the main menu:

1. Choose "Options"
2. Choose "Display"
3. Under "Tips" - Toggle "On" or "Off"

During a game:

1. Press "Start" button to pause
2. Choose "Options"
3. Choose "Display"
4. Under "Tips" - Toggle "Or" of "Off"

Keep in mind, it may not give you tips when you need them.
