I understand that every single game on the planet ships with bugs - I test software, so I probably understand this better than anybody here. However the magnitude of beta-ness that Galaxies shipped with is totally unacceptable. Certain basic stability issues should have been addressed before even thinking about going live. But the "Oh, we can fix it in the next patch" mentality won out. Frankly that’s just sloppy, intolerable and unprofessional.
And positions like yours, people that say "Hey, it's a new game. Give it some time to shake itself out" only further that. If Galaxies only sold 10 percent of their projected sales, I bet they'd rethink that policy.
But hey - if you don’t mind paying 15 bucks a month to test their software, then more power to you.

Maybe I'm wrong, but you're not paying 15 bucks to test their software, the first month is free. If the game is no better after the free month is up, then complain.

And sorry - the 50 bucks up front gives me all the bitching rights I need.

Well, got mine this weekend, and the only problems I experienced were with the "chugginess" in the cities, as other posters have pointed out. Seems like the more fellow players you are around, the more the screen seems to freeze every few seconds. But if you're out and about, things go quite smoothly.
It does seem like as a casual player (like myself, who isn't going to spend more than 8 to 10 hours per week playing) it is going to take forever for my character to gain experience points, but I guess that's the way things work, since other people are going to be putting in tons of time online and advancing their characters.
I did see a ton of Imperial presence on my planet of choice (Tatooine), although I have yet to run into any Sandpeople (which is good, since I can't even seem to kill a Womp-Rat without serious damage to myself...animals tend to charge straight at you).
All in all, I was quite impressed with the development of the landscape by the game designers...you can virtually go anywhere you want, and the planet seems to be HUGE. Although I hope they get creature mounts and vehicle access added soon...I'm tired of running through the desert!
Still, quite a bit of fun. Not YET worth the $15 per month, IMHO, but assuming they get some stuff added and some of the glitches worked out (I have to manuver around rocks and walls, but can walk straight through a table and/or chair) this could turn into a very worthwhile online experience...I plan to give it at least a three-month commitment before deciding if I want to sign up for a long term plan or not...

The fact that that stuff happens really sucks, but I'm alright with the solution they chose.

Apparently, highly skilled buttholes with great carpentry skills would also barricade innocent players in an area with rapidly-created tables and/or chairs, too.

BTW, had a fun time watching three strippers perform on stage in a cantina. Now that may not be worth $15 a month, but it was certainly more entertaining than anything I saw in PHANTOM MENACE!
