Another GC, PS2 or X-Box thread

I'm interested in buying my first new generation game console but I'm still wondering which one would be right for me.

I'm not really into RPG or Racing games so the PS2 is a bit out of question for me, altough I LOVE the GTA series.

I'm more into adventure games like Mario, Zelda and action games like Halo and Splinter Cell are really interesting me.

I'm also really interested in the X-Box technology and it's capability to offer online gaming.

As you can see, I really don't know yet which system is the right one for me so could some of you help me out please ?

Thanks !

I was stuck on getting the PS2 for a while, mainly due to the GTA series. I got Vice City for the PC a couple days ago and have enjoyed it and find no convincing reason to get a PS2 now. Get VC for the PC.

If you really like the Nintendo homemade games, you gotta go with the Cube. But it sounds like you want the XBOX (Halo exclusive, best Splinter Cell port)...from what you posted, I'd tell you to go with the XBOX. I'm most likely going to the same anyday now...

I can't get the GTA games for the PC because mine sucks and I don't have enough money left to buy one.

I think I will wait until the new PS2 model is released later this year before I buy one along with the GTA games.

For now, I'm still torn between the GC and the X-Box.

I nudge you towards the xbox, unless the Cube drops to $100 bucks.

It doesn't look like you're interested in the PS2, but if you decide otherwise, there is a new model coming out later this year with added features so you may want to wait for that model.

If you're interested in GTA, I read somewhere (I think it was either in EGM or OXM) that both III and Vice City will come out on the X-Box the day after exclusivity ends with the PS2, and that both games will be packaged together. We'll see if this happens.

I've got an X-Box and I think it would be a good purchase, and it seems like you're leaning towards that decision too.

Any other suggestions guys ?

I will probably get the X-Box bundle which includes Halo and Amped. I will also pick up either Blinx ( it seems like a good platform title ) or Splinter Cell.

Are these good choices ?

I'm also considering getting a GameCube with Mario, Animal Crossing and Resident Evil Zero, but I'm still torn between the GC and X-Box.

I went to Best Buy and really couldn't decide on one.

All 3 systems SUCK! Indrema still has my full support!

hehe, j/k I own a a PS2 and an xbox, waiting for GC price drop to get one too.

It all comes down to which games you REALLY want to play. My first purchase was the PS2 because I was dying to play MGS2 the day it was released. Then came the box because I was dying to play Splinter Cell and I couldnt wait. Right now, there isnt anything out on the gamecube that I reall my MUST have, so I can wait on it. That would be my advice to you, pick whichever system has the games you just cant wait to play.

I have a cube and an X-box... I used to have a PS2, but I sold it so I could get an X-box.

I love my Gamecube. The X-box and PS2 are about the same to me, I just like the hard drive on the X-box.

I highly recommend the cube.

I have both systems and I gotta go with the xbox. The xbox just has so many features that would put me over the edge.
  • 5.1 sound w/games that support it (Splinter Cell and Halo) - great examples
  • No need for memory card - HD
  • HDTV support
  • Put your mp3 on the HD
  • Xbox Live
  • More features if you mod your xbox
  • DVD playback - gotta buy the remote
Here's a couple of sites that compare all three systems:
Link 1 Link 2

I think each system has its advantages. Out of the two systems, I would chose the Xbox. So much more you can do with it. The funny thing is I've been spending most of my time on the gamecube lately. As soon as Star Wars: KOTOR comes out, the gamecube and ps2 may have to go into moth balls for awhile.

I've finally made up my mind and chose the Gamecube.

I'm really impressed in the hardware of the X-Box but it has no game that really interest me right now.

On the Gamecube, I'm really dying to play Animal Crossing, the Resident Evil series, Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda, etc

I will probably buy the X-Box later this year but right now the GC seems more like my thing.

In a nutshell:

PS2: It has the GTA series which you love, and has the most game (and thus the most diverse line-up).

GC: Only place you can play Nintendo's first party games. $50 less than the competition, plus you can currently get a free game (either Metroid, Zelda, Mario Party 4, or Star Fox Adventures).

X-box: Best Hardware, thus best graphics and sound. HD is great for saving memory hogging sports games if you're in to them. Has Halo and Halo 2 which you said interested you.

Now you just have to decide which sounds better to you.
