This is the point I was trying to make. If EA and Sega combine, it is obvious to see that EA will have the upper hand and you can bet that they will not have online features for the upcoming Sega Sports games for the X-box. That leaves you with Microsofts sports games which are just as bad as Sony's house sports games. Nothing is set is stone, but just something to think about.
Also, I still play NES, so to me, gameplay is much more important than graphics.

This seems like a waste of time. All I'm reading here is the typical debate and then the one asking about it coming back with, "All I care about is GTA games." If all he really cares about is GTA then save the time and energy of the long post and just tell him to get the PS2. After each good set of points it comes back to this same thing so why carry on. PS2= GTA series Done.

I own an XBox and PS2. Got the PS2 early on, have GTA, GTA Vice City, GT3, as well as a few more games. Bought an Xbox and chipped it/ HD Upgrade / Wireless Bridge a few weeks ago. Even if you never copied a game, this is fantastic. The Hard Drive can hold movies, MP3's, pictures from my digital camera, I can do slide shows on my Xbox, play windows media files, etc...
I like my PS2 for the above mentioned games, but the Xbox has PLENTY of great games.

Well I've come to the realization that Vice City is actually better on the PC than the PS2. So that pretty much solves that. And from what I've read, the GTA games will come to the XBOX eventually, so I'll just wait (im)patiently
.
That sounds very cool...I'm very unfamiliar with the XBOX hardware...can someone briefly explain the features (like playing MP3s on certain games) and so forth. Or a link to something like this is fine.

This site has a lot of tutorials and a good forums board. Warning-this site can be very confusing and you can easily get overwhelmed. I'm in the process of modding my xbox(waiting for the chip to arriave) so I'm unsure exactly how hard it will be and how hard flashing the card and doing other things.
The easiest thing for beginners to do is get a chip, they have both ones that need to be solder and those that don't. After this you should obtain a set of files called Slayers. This has all the essential software you need to run a modded XBox and its supposed to be in an easy to use setup system. I haven't been able to run Slayers but this will defiantly be what I do when my cheap arriaves. Just do a search in the EVOX dashboard forum on that site for all the info on Slayers and where to get it.

Personally for me, it's all about playing the Japanese games. That's why as good as the Xbox is, it just doesn't do it for me. I'd much rather play Final Fantasy, Onimusha, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil, and Sakura Taisen over any Halo or sports game. To tailor those games, the current best choice is the PS2. They have the most Japanese developed games in their current library. The Gamecube is a close second, and the Xbox is lagging way 3rd. But, since I have all 3, that's not really a big problem for me. But I really think it all boils to one thing: Games.

Well still more questions...
I was looking at the XBOX IGN list of upcoming releases and was totally lost...I have no idea which ones are the "big titles", like the Halo's, Splinter Cell's and so forth. If anyone would be so kind as to list the big upcoming titles (besides sports games) for the XBOX, I'd appreciate it.
Hopefully this'll shed some more light on the future of the system...

Hey man if I was you I'd look at the facts of each system and not ask what people think cause most will have alittle biased towards one system. So do alittle research for yourself and pick out stuff you like. Yeah PSX2 does have more games but to me that means they have more crap too so that is not much of a big deal. I myself enjoy the xbox allot more then my PSX2 and soon to get GC.
Also people keep talking about GTA you have a nice pc it seems so why get a $200 system when you can spend $70 and have both games on your PC!? Also here is the link to the xbox Bundle for $180 so you can still get it at that price. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...11000612302498
If you like I can go into detail about what I think of each system but no need to bore ya. I just say do some research for yourself and pick what one you think would be best for ya. If you want me to go into detail just lit me know ok man.

As you can see, that's quite a lot of exclusive titles. Whether or not they interest you...well, that's another story. :P

Thanks for that. I'll read in more about those exclusive titles.
TOPDAWG- I've done a ton of research on both systems, so at this point, I am looking for your guy's opinions. So if you don't mind going into detail, go right ahead...
At this point I will tell you I am considering GTA:VC for the PC and then picking up an XBOX (I'm very intrigued by the hardware). But like I've said, something about the PS2 keeps pulling me back in. It sounds like I'm talkin about crack or something, forgive me.

The Xbox is the simple answer for me due to LIVE. Some people complain but if you have broadband then one greeat game like Ghost Recon can have you not caring to play another game for months. I've spent countless hours with clan members trying to get better at this game. The depth along with playing human opponents always keeps the game fresh. This is WAY better than Socom IMO. I bought Socom for $40 with headset at Amazon during their misprice and turned around and sold it for double that after I found I disliked it. The control isn't near as tight as GR. Sniping is useless in Socom as well IMO. In GR sniping is a freaking art by itself but not so overdone that everyone wants to be a sniper and that is it.
Also, people talk about LIVE being $50 to $70 as if it is a bad thing. I'm amazed at this. You will get a LOT more from LIVE than you even think about getting from PS2 broadband. One major thing that you can't get on PS2 broadband is big game downloads. No room for a new level on Splinter Cell, MA, etc. when you don't have a hard drive. You get what you pay for man. The day the PS2 has a good online system will be the day others, and myself will be paying for it.

OK here we go I warn you bad spelling and grammar use are ahead.
PSX2 is a good system if you just want lots of games to pick from but most are the same type of games. I mean think about it how many platformers do you want to own at a time or racing or RPG's!? I feel the it has allot of games is just nit picking I mean
%95 of them sick pretty bad. However the games are not as ugly as some people make them out to be and I'm not one to hate a game for how it looks long as it plays good I'm happy. Also it seems with PSX2 they care about nothing but the mainstream gamers like SC was made easer for PSX2. You will see allot of games dumbed down for PSX2. Also the PSX2 hardware is just **** next to GC and Xbox. I don't even mind that but I can't forgave Sony for saying we will have CG level games on our system before launch.
GC is great if game-play is important long as you don't mind waiting forever for games. If N makes a game it's all about game-play you won't find 20 min movies on this system. Also GC games have a feel and look to them that just makes you smile and relax. If you want this system wait to like June so you can get it in a bundle with the GBA player that will add-on to the system. I will get mine once they do this deal.
Xbox ok the hardware is a huge plus. Your on a HT site so I'm guessing you have DD and man in-game DD is the best thing ever. Also games are just fun to look at too. Also with the hardware you can do new types of games cause you have the hard drive and can use cable Internet for gaming right out of the box. Of course you need xbox live first. The fact is you can do a game on xbox that can't be done on some other console. I mean xbox gets all of PSX2 good games anyway and they looks better and have DD in-game plus you have a few games made just for xbox that look great sound great and are just fun so why not just get xbox.
Also what people say about xbox is true the thing does not have allot of AAA games but the same can be said for the other systems too. Also if you care about games from japan stay as far away form the xbox as you can cause this thing has next to 0 japan support. For me I only have so much time and xbox has enough great games and the hardware is worth the $180 price. Also no memory cards are a big deal to me cause when I had to get 2 for my PSX2 I did really feel I was getting ripped off bad. Also it's shollow but I'm going to say it I have a nice TV and sound system I want the TV to show me pretty pictures and colors that it's really good at and I want my sound system to be used to it's most with dd in-game.
Also here are two sites with lots and lots of game reviews look up the reviews for games you may want to get for each system.
http://www.videogamereview.com/
http://www.gamerankings.com/
So I myself would pick the xbox plus being a PC gamer you will like what games xbox has and the hardware. Also what the dude said about playing media stuff on xbox is not out of the box stuff. You got to open the system chip it and other such stuff. I hope this helped if not lit me know what subjects you want to know about.
Also people the above is what I think and is not fact so don't get prissy about it.

Slayers for the XBox Mod =
Way easy to install everything software-wise. (The chip on the other hand)
I have a mine setup with a wireless bridge so I can simply copy files from my PC over to my XBOX via FTP and boom, watching a d/l'd movie or doing my latest vacation pics for family to see on the Xbox.

Why is PS2 vs Xbox even debated anymore? The answer should be clear.
The Xbox is more powerful. When they are both the same price, why would you buy the older, weaker system? The only thing the PS2 has on the Xbox are the amount of games out. But lets be honest, how many of those are great games worth playing exclusive to the PS2?
And the GTA series does not warrant a PS2 purchase. Nor Grand Tourismo.
Xbox has everything you need right out of the box: hard drive, 4 player capability, broadband adapter.
Correct me if I'm wrong but you have to pay extra for those on the PS2. So really the PS2 costs more than the Xbox.

Second, I don't really like how the Xbox doesn't have much exclusive console titles on it. No, I don't mean games that are on the Xbox AND the PC. For example, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will be on the Xbox and the PC, but I prefer those kind of games on the PC. Same thing with most of the FPS games on the Xbox. They really need to get with the program on that department. I think I pretty much got a Xbox for all the Tecmo games.
Lastly, I don't quite agree with your statement about 'why would you buy the older, weaker system'. Overall, the titles on the PS2 KILLS the Xbox library. If the PS2 is so 'weak' why does it have excellent titles such as FFX-2 and Star Ocean: Till The End of Time? Why would I want such a 'powerful' system when I can play most of those games on my even more powerful PC?
In the end, it all boils down to this: Games. For me, I need the Japanese titles. The Xbox just doesn't do it for me in that department. Saying that the Xbox is THE system to get just because it's the most powerful system is pretty impetuous.

Here comes my Vice City question of the day guys...
What are the downflaws of VC on the PS2? I've heard bad control, bad framerate, bad whatever....just wondering what quirks people had with it.

) For me, it also helped that I could still play all of my PS1 games on the new system - Castlevania: SOTN and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo are two of the best games I've ever played.Just curious, what Xbox games are people playing where they use the built-in 4-player capability? Anything other than sports titles? I've never really seen this as much of a selling point, though admittedly, 4-player Goldeneye on the N64 was great.
I've played a couple 8-player PS2 games, they were quite fun as well.
