Mafia - A question
 

When the hoods smash your taxi near Salieri's bar and try to kill you, what do you do? Run to Salieri's bar or fist fight with the hoods? I tried both and ended up getting killed both times.

you run to the bar, and they get killed by Salieri's men in the bar. I tried fighting the hoods, but lost every time. I think they're invincible, since the next part is scripted and they have to get killed by Salieri's men.

Is that in the beginning? I don't rememeber that part. I will say that this is my pick for game of the year 2002. :)

It's the second "chapter" on the game.

Running did not help. I got killed every time. I even went into the freeride to check on the map where I am and the easiest way to get to the bar. Using that info I run down the street to the bar but the hoods get me within seconds. Weaving and dodging does not help either :( This is probably one of the hardest games I have ever played.

Tell me what the title of that part is in the second chapter and I'll go back and play it again

Ok yeah - I played the last bit of the second chapter - it's the beginning just like I was thinking in my head. :)

So they come rough up your taxi and then they wanna rough you up - well what you wanna do is run towards where the back end of your taxi is facing - you round the corner and you'll see a green arrow - duck down that alley and just keep running - they'll hit you a few times with the pistola, but it's unavoidable really. Make a left and then head towards the same direction you headed before (more or less straight and to the left) and duck down the alley again - you'll go up some stairs and then left (don't continue down the stairs or you'll end up at a dead end)... You'll see some arrows now and then indicating which alleys to duck down and then you'll finally come out of an alley and see Salieri's - just run up to it and it will trigger the cut scene. As long as you run the whole time and try to dodge from side to side (serpentine), you'll avoid death. That's not the hardest mission - the hardest is the race which you'll come to a little later. After that, the game is fun as hell - it's still got some tough moments, but nothing as bad as the race. :)

There should be arrows or something, guiding you where to run. It's hard, I died 3 or 4 times, but eventually you'll pull it off. Make sure you don't give up, because you are at the part where the real fun in the game begins :D

I hated the race so much, I used a cheat, and that's a rarity for me, lol.

The race.... I remembered that. Three days of trying and trying until I get it right. -ohbfrank-

After the race tho, it only gets better :D

when is this game coming out on Xbox???

I heard in November for both Xbox and PS2

Do you have the cheat codes for this game?

I think what I did was download a save file that was just past the race. I forgot where it was, though. Do a search on Google for Mafia downloads or Mafia cheats or what not.

Thanks, Nick. I already have a complete savefile where I can go to any game I want to. I wanted a cheat for infinite health, but it appears that no such cheat is available.

you can use a trainer, I tried one and had infinite health, and bullets. Don't try until after you beat the game though, otherwise it's no fun :D

The game's not that hard. I'm almost through it and I never needed a cheat or a trainer (whatever that is) or a hint guide or a save game... and I'm not even very good at video games. What I do when I'm having trouble in a game is I'll save alot.

a trainer is a program that runs in the background during a game that lets you have unlimited ammo, health, keys, items, etc. It also often has hotkeys to activate certain cheats. Like in Roller Coaster Tycoon, you'd hit F2 or something to get $10,000 instantly. They're alot of fun.

I lamost forgot...the only time I'd use a cheat or trainer before I beat the game is if I died many (and I am talking MANY) times on the same boss, or level. Also if I forgot to save, or the game crashed or something like that.

OK, I guess I am really bad in gaming, but I am still stuck in the "Run to salieri's bar" spot.

I folow the first arrow OK, but in the second arrow, I run into an alley with stairs that always gets me to a dead end.
