Evil Dead 2: A Fistful of Boomstick (need help)

Ok, I am sooo frustrated!! I have been playing this game for two days straight, and I keep getting stuck in the same spot.
I have gotten to where the Nathanial Payne/monster thing is and I can't figure out how to defeat it. I have shot it with every weapon, tried to drown it in gas, and I have tried to hack it to death with my chainsaw, but NOTHING works!! The spells are useless in this particular place, so I am at a loss. I have searched the internet for any information on playing this game and I have come up with nothing. That's what sucks about getting games when they first come out.
If anyone has any idea about how to kill this thing, PLEASE let me know!!!
Thanks!

Been there, no help. I searched all the game sites that came up with a google search for the game. No one has anything. That's the only reason I posted here.

Yep, picked it up at Best Buy on Friday. So far it's pretty cool. Good graphics and good game play...now if I can just get further into the game!!! I was hoping to find a strategy guide, but according to a few different sources, it isn't supposed to be published until March 2004. Don't they normally publish them closer to the games release date? Oh well, I am sure that within a couple of weeks I will be able to find a site with some hints.

All the websites say this comes out June 16. Of course, they also say it's $19.99 so I can't complain about that part.

oops, I guess my Best Buy put it out a week early. According to the BestBuy.com website, the official release date is May 28th. Gee, maybe that's the reason I can't find any help! LOL
I don't know where you saw June 16th Face/off....but it was $19.99.

Amazon, buy.com, Gamestop and others said June. Of course, I am looking at the Xbox version. They list the PS2 one as being available. The Best Buy site lists them both as May 28th. Oh well.

Oh, I see. I was looking at the PS2 release dates. I just assumed that all versions would come out at the same time.
Does anyone know about how long it takes for the gaming sites to start getting hints and things like that? I'm still stuck at that one point and I have gone thru the game about six times from the beginning. It's very frustrating.

Okay, I just did this part. Took a few tries, but I figured it out. I'll put it in spoilers just in case:

Spoiler:
Basically you just have to beat him like that old wizard in the SNES Zelda game. What you have to do it reflect the flaming rocks back with your shovel. Face him and hold the shovel in ready position (i.e. hold down the left hand attack button) then release it when a flaming boulder comes to you. He'll then start putting his hands together and throw energy bolts at you. When he moves his right hand, that means he's about to throw another boulder, so get your shovel ready again.

Hey, hey. There's a full walkthrough at http://www.ign.com . On the main page do a search for evil dead and it will give you the option for the walkthrough when you click on the game. Hope this helps M, and good to hear from you.

how is the game overall? I want to get it when the xbox version comes out but I would hate to think they made a stinker. I noticed the price at bestbuy.com was only like 30 bucks or so and that has me worried.

???? The regular every day list price should be $19.99. You shouldn't see it anywhere for more than that....

was it only 19.99? Could have been, I just remember it not being 49.99 like most new releases. I took it as a sign that the game was going to be a stinker. Am I correct in that?

It's pretty fun if you are into that kind of game. I think it's better then Hail to the King was. Lots of time travel, deadites, and smart-ass quips. It has art galleries you can unlock when you defeat the game and a making of featurette with Bruce Campbell. It's well worth the $20 in my opinion.

Any more reviews or opinions on this game? I'm tempted to pick up the XBox release.

The game just got a 1/10 or 2/10 in EGM I believe. Apparently Its just as bad, or worse than the previous game.

Ash is in the same boat as Batman...they just can't make a good game for them.

I liked the game. I might be a bit biased though because I am a huge Evil Dead fan. That being said, I did think hail to the king was a terrible game. The only downside is that the game is really short. I was done in a few hours. I guess that is why it's only 19.99 for PS2.

The game is pretty damn fun and the controls are very good. Screw EGM, they probably played it for 2 seconds and gave up. I give it a 7.5-8.
