Well, it's been a while since I've played either game, but I seem to recall that there was some number x such that if you had x stars or fewer, you were golden because you could lose stars with time, but if you had x+1 stars, you were screwed because you couldn't lose them over time. So even though the game employed a multiple-star system, the only thing that really mattered was which side of x you were on. I don't know why the developers made this decision (my guess is they couldn't get the game to balance otherwise) but it basically broke the star system for me.

But there are several easy ways to downgrade your star rating besides waiting it out. The whole point is that if you kill half a dozen cops, they're not going to stop looking for you after 3 minutes.

I want hills again, mainly.

The load times in GTA were pretty bad, i havent played it in awhile but i remember it taking around 5 minutes from putting the disc in before you could play the game. I guess a lot of games on the ps2 are like that though.

In the games I've played, a single star is the only star you could get rid of by waiting it out. Two or more, you're stirring up some stuff and time isn't going to take care of it.

I've played the PC versions.

I get between 1-2 seconds of load time between parts of the city.

Also, it only takes about 30 seconds from the time I click on the link to the time the game is running.

I guess I'm a load time snob playing a lot of Xbox and GCN games, but it totally sucks to pause for 5 seconds in midgame just to switch from one city to another.

You're damn right you're spoiled... I grew up with C64 tape games where you could start the game loading, go have lunch and by the time you were finished the game *might* be ready! Load times on ANY console these days are NOTHING!!!!!
