They actually hung themselves long before that... Before that when they were the dominant gaming machine, 3rd parties had little choice if they wanted to make any money off their games. They've always screwed over 3rd party developers with their policies - their costs to developers were more or less rape. Once their consoles started to not do as well on the market, developers gleefully jumped ship. I think this is why alot of developers are still releasing the GC version of a multiplatform game a few weeks after the other two consoles. Revenge. Nintendo was really evil back in the day - I'm surprised nobody remembers it. It's a petty reason, but it's pretty much why I'm not a big fan of theirs.
