Is Square going to release FFX-2 subbed or dubbed?

I ask because, judging from the different Final Fantasy X-2 videos I've seen, it seems Yuna will have a lot more to say this time and well I remember how her English speaking voice actor loved... to... pause... so... much. That and I have a hardtime picturing the lypsincing of the opening song being any good when they translate it.

I for one wish most RPGs would take .hack's approach of including both English and Japanese as spoken language options. That or just subtitle the Japanese dialogue in English. it'd be a heck of alot cheaper than hiring a new set of voice actors. What do y'all think?

I wish they would include both sub and dub to satisfy everyone, but I personally think this is highly doubtful. I'm gonna say it's most likely going to be dubbed fully. Good thing I imported. ^_^

I believe they're dubbing it. I seem to recall reading that they were using the same voice actors.

I prefer Dubs in video games myself. In movies I'm all about subtitles, but in games if your going to have voice overs, make them in English IMO.

I really hope they don't use the same voice actress for Yuna.
I was also annoyed by the frequent pauses.
I would prefer a subbed version, but I liked the dub (excluding Yuna) in the US FFX, so I can go either way.

Yeah, everyone else of the English cast did fine but Yuna....

That said, yeah, I could accept a dub but I'd rather subbed. I usually prefer the original language because many times with dubbing you have to adapt the dialogue a bit more (and sometimes drastically more) than you would with subbing.

Did I mention Yuna's voice actress sucked? And I just have this uneasy feeling that Square will try to really aim this for the teen and pre-teen demographic by hiring someone like Mandy Moore or Britney Spears to be Yuna. That just opens the floodgate for hiring "names" rather than genuine voice actors. But that's just my paranoid worst case scenario.

Anyhoo, I agree with kaiyouske that the game should be dubbed AND subbed to appease everyone who wants to play this game.

Well, last year Square hired Mandy Moore to voice a reincarnated Aerith in Kingdom Hearts, so consider those floodgates open and your worst case scenario here.

True. But wasn't it Disney who hired her? I'm hoping Square is a little moremodest when it comes to frivolous spending.

Anyone know a number or adress where I could call/write Square some feedback about what I'd like them to include in future localizations of their games? I don't expect them to suddenly add everything/anything I want but I figure it's more productive than just wishing they'd consider adding the option of playing the game with Japanese audio and English subtitles.

Lately after playing FFX, Kingdom Hearts, and Xenosaga I have been very impressed with english voice acting in games. Hell, even Mandy Moore (though I didn't know it at the time and I've never heard of her until then) did a decent job.

But yeah, I would agree that Yuna has to go, but I understand she was told to pause and/or they cut up her speech digitally to "try" and match the mouth movements. The song is another story....since they kept the song in FFX in japanese they may keep it the same for this one. That is, unless the vocalist is bilingual like Hikari who sang the Kingdom Hearts song. I am pretty sure the english version of FFX-2 will be showcased by Square-Enix at E3 anyway.

Hikaru. Utada Hikaru. Hikari ("Light") was the name of the Japanese KH theme song. Her fans call her Hikki, too.

Sorry, I'm a fanboy.
