Price drops in may...

UPS dropped off some info that all the game systems will have a price drop around E3 time

"new low price," $150 for xbox and ps2, $100 for gamecube.

So, where was the brown santa making his delivery in your case ? :D

gcribbs 04-26-03 02:54 AM

at $99 I have to believe that GC sales will pick up.

Will Best Buy give a refund on a price drop within a certain period? They currently have severl Xboxes with a August 2002 manufacture date, which should make them version 1.0 or 1.1 which means I should have no worries in puting in my mod chip. I'm afraid if I wait until they acutally go down to $150, I might not get the version I want.

What does UPS have to do with price drops?

milo bloom 04-26-03 09:16 AM

If he works for a retailer, UPS would drop off their document pouches.

Cardiff Giant11 04-26-03 12:04 PM

Excellent. I've already got all 3 systems(and am actually contemplating selling my PS2) but I'm modding my 1.0 XBox and if I destroy it it'll be nice to know I can pick up another one for 50 bucks less(though if I destroy 1 xbox i'm not gonna take the chance of modding another):)

I warned my sister in law to hold off buying her daughter a PS2 for her b'day untill E3 time ( her b'day is May 5th).

As usual both Microsoft and Sony will deny right up untill the zero hour. Why have people wait when you can squeeze a few more bucks out of the "less savvy". Then as soon as one announces a price drop they all will across the board.

I read in PSM a while back that in Japan, Sony has been bundling the PS2 with Ratchet and Clank. There was talk of that bundle coming to the US but it's probably not since R&C is still selling pretty well.

I know that Best Buy will give you a price adjustment within at least 30 days of purchase. So you should be okay if it happens right after E3.

Don't know. The competition will be $50 cheaper as well.

But it'd be a larger drop for the GameCube percentage-wise.

Decker 04-26-03 04:57 PM

Will it be the smaller, redesigned Xbox as well?

Gizmo 04-26-03 09:06 PM

Decker, the smaller Xbox dosn't come out for a few months I thought...

tenaciousdave 04-26-03 10:20 PM

I will confirm those prices. MS told me no smaller Xbox though.

tenaciousdave 04-26-03 10:21 PM

Oh yeah. You beat me to the post by 8 hours. Damn...

young 04-26-03 11:09 PM

this is for the bundled gamecube systems? btw, i thought the zelda bundle is available. yet, at ebgames, i don't see it listed. just the original 4 game bundles.

Gideon68 04-27-03 12:08 AM

The Zelda Bundle replaces RE0 sometime in May.

draggoon01 04-27-03 08:43 PM

will gamecube and xbox still bundle games at the new prices?

Kicker_of_Elves 04-28-03 01:05 AM

Check Walmart for The GC Zelda Bundle, ones i saw also included the pre-order discs with it,:D didnt see any black GC's tho :(

edytwinky 04-28-03 05:51 AM

Still just the idea of a next-gen game system under $100 has got to get a lot of attention and I'm sure sales will pick up.

junkie 04-28-03 10:09 PM

GC for $100...does this mean the GBAsp will be dropping in price as well?

Josh H 04-28-03 11:16 PM

The SP is selling like hotcakes, no way we'll see a price drop on it in May. They'll wait until sales slow down before even thinking about a price drop.

edytwinky 04-29-03 04:20 AM

It is sad though the SP and GC would be selling for about the same price.

Exactly. Probably not, becuase if they do it's like getting the game system for $50 which doesn't sound too good. The price drop doesn't really change much for the GC, especially if you're gonna get zelda anyway.
