There is no answer that will make everyone happy. If Nintendo switches gears and starts making violent games or CGI movie type games to make the general audience happy they will lose their core audience that likes Nintendo's style of gaming that focuses more on gameplay and is playable by all ages.

They would also have to fire Miyamoto since he would never follow that direction.

Nintendo makes great games just not the type that are so popular right now. The market has changed since Nintendo ruled the sales charts and gamers want more violence and realism in their games.

My question is with so many people following the trend towards violence why should Nintendo follow? Do we need every company making the same type of games? This is the problem with PC gaming. Something sells well and there are 20 clones of it in production the next week.

Nintendo needs to keep doing what they do best and try to find a better way to market it to the masses. If Nintendo just starts publishing the same kinds of stuff as everyone else they might as well give up.

As well as controller buttons, if I remember. But nothing could beat the cupcake-like frills along the bottom of the system.

I agree with darkside. It was mentioned above that other systems have more variety of games, ones for adults, kids, and so on. But none of them have the breadth of games that are playable to everyone at the same time. That's where Nintendo's strength will continue to lie.
