I know this is slightly off topic, but is Advance Wars ever going to have a price drop? It's been out since launch and is still $18-$20 everywhere. I just recently became interested in this game, but I don't want to spend $20 and then see a drice drop to $10. Anyone want to speculate?

Well, it did just drop in price from $29.99 to $19.99, along with Golden Sun, in the past couple of months. So, I doubt you'll see it go any lower.

Just an FYI: Karnaaj Rally is a great game! A bit like the old Power Drive Rally on the Jaguar, but even a bit cooler. (It has mines & missiles, bu tthe overhead racing action is great.) The graphics are also really nice, giving an apparently very high resolution with nice textures on the GBA.

Trust me trust me trust me. In fact trust ANYONE that has played the game. I have never seen anyone on this thread rag on AW (okay now they'll pop out of the woodwork)

It is worth 15 bucks (5 dollar coupon). It is worth much more than that.

Just buy it buy it buy it buy it.....

convincing enough for you

Like someone mentioned before, Advance Wars (as well as some other Nintendo published titles) recently dropped from 29.99 to 19.99. Unless there were some super closeout sale (akin to a Black Friday type of thing), Advance Wars will never MSRP for 9.99. Nintendo published titles very very very rarely drop that low in price. Ever walk into a Toys R Us store and still see Mario 64 for 39.99 - a whole 6-7 years after release?!

Just picked this up... anybody here played it ... thoughts?

It was cool when I went to get it, here's the conversation:

the sticker was $29.99,

so I ask: "Can you scan this for a price."

ToysRUs guy at the VG counter: "It is $29.99 per the shelf tag."

I said: "Again, Please scan it"

It comes up $9.99,

and he says "Man how did you know that?"

and I just said "The internet is a wonderful thing"

To which he replies, "TOYSRUS.COM does not reflect our pricing."

I reply: "I never said toysrus.com"

And he just sat there stunned...

It's kinda funny that the free games that CompUSA and Circuit City were giving away for purchasing a GBA SP (Guilty Gear X, Iron Man) have all dropped to below $10.

That is funny because the latest EGM has the game under the "Reviewing the games noone else bothers to" section. I thought it was funny because the were talking about how the cover of the game is a horrible photoshop example. It was quite funny actually.

Yeah, the cover art of Karnaaj (and the weird character faces in the manual) are pretty much a turn-off. Fortunately, they have nothing to do with the game.

BTW:
If anyone's interested, Best Buy has a six-pack of GBA games for $59.99.
Now let me think...
Shinobi
High Heat 2003
Spy Hunter
Dave Mirra 3 (?)

and a couple more (one was a 2-D fighting game). Sorry I've forgotten them all. Anyways, it's 6 games for $60. Pretty good deal if your into the titles.

might be local, but i picked up tekken advance for 9.94 at wal-mart the other day. i'm pretty much over fighting games, but my 5 year old is enjoying it.

edit: just noticed ginsu's post above...the games he lists were in the same bargain bin, but only a couple copies of tekken. a zillion of some barbie game, and i hear horrible things about the midway classics conversion...

how in the hell do you ruin defender?

Just got back from the Virgin Megastore, a store not exactly known for bargains, and was surprised to find the following titles for $9.99:

Tony Hawk 3
Dave Mirra 2
Pinball of the Dead

There were other titles as well, but not games that received positive reviews.

I just went to the one in Times Square, and they don't have Pinball of the Dead. I guess you went to the one in Union Square?
