OWNing Pac-Man!! (Great guide!)

this is great:

http://www.mameworld.net/pacman/index.html

very in-depth guide to pac-man.

also very cool (though not from the above site):

In July of 1999, Florida resident and die-hard Pac-Man fan Billy Mitchell achieved the first perfect score in Pac-Man (3,333,360) after playing for six hours straight. He beat all 256 screens eating every dot, fruit, and ghost (all four ghosts were eaten with each power pellet) - using only one Pac-Man!

Cool. I wonder if these patterns work for Ms Pac-Man, too.

Naw, patterns don't work for Ms. Pac, they eliminated the patterning when they hacked the original.

MTV's True Life show or whatever it's called was about hardcore gamers this past weekend. It had that guy who got the perfect game on, among others.

I remember reading, as a kid, a whole novel on how to beat Pacman and a different book on games like Space Invaders, etc. Because early games devolved into patterns, I guess someone with a good memory could breeze by them. As someone above said, they totally changed it for Ms. Pacman, though there are numerous strategies that work for that game too.

I can remember back in '84 or so I bought a book on Pac Man patterns. The patterns worked on most of the machines but some of them had been "fixed." I know one time I played up to the ninth key but my Dad pulled me out of the Arcade. I bet I still have that book in my folks Attic.

Pacman owned me back then and still owns me now. I suck so horribly at that game its not even funny. I think I will study that article in depth and take my revenge!
