anybody else pull the trigger on GC this week?

i've wanted a GC pretty much since mario sunshine came out, and came close to caving in when the mario pack-in came out, but that deal wasn't quite good enough.

i gave in this past weekend.

the combination of the mario pack for $159 at best buy plus a free copy of Metroid Prime and a free copy of NBA street plus the preorder deal for zelda was just too much for a red blooded gamer to pass up. i think my PS2 might lie dormant for a while with Mario, Metroid, and Zelda to keep me busy.

sidenote: picked up a wavebird...simply the coolest peripheral ever. wish sony would make one since their layout is better.

Anybody else pull the trigger on GC this week?

I did so a week early at BB, getting the SMS bundle and Metroid Prime, and missed out on the free NBA Street from last week.

But, at least I did score a copy of Beach Spikers for less than $10.

I just got one too, so I have all 3 systems now. What are some of the good exclusive games Gamecube games, since they're the only ones I haven't played? I got Metroid & Rogue Leader & just rented Luigi's Mansion.

I caved last week and got the platinum GC with Metroid, NBA Street (which I promply traded in for credit towards Animal Crossing), along with the Zelda preorder/bonus disc.

Super Monkey Ball 2 is a must for any GC owner.

I don't have time to play my PS2 and Xbox games, but I'm suddenly tempted by the Best Buy GameCube deal. Metroid Prime and Zelda are the main reasons, but I'm sure there are other games that I would enjoy too.

These systems are getting to the pricepoint of becoming an impulse buy.

I can just picture my wife rolling her eyes now...

I just bought one at Target this past weekend. They had 1 Mario Sunshine bundle and they had copies of Metroid Prime bundled with a free memory card as well. So I got 2 memory cards, 2 games and the console for 150 (It was suposed to be 160 but the clueless target employees didn't know about the mario bundle and took 10 dollars off )

I'm having a blast with Metroid Prime. Mario seems kind of weak tho.

Mario takes a little time to get into but it's excellent. I didn't like the water pack at first, but once you see the variety of ways you have to use it, it grows on you.

Just glad to see a few other people had impulse buys this weekend. I took home the cube, mario, metroid, zelda OOT, NBA street, a memory card, and a wavebird for under $200...how am i supposed to pass THAT up?

They got me with their package deal. I snagged the system, the memory card, Mario Sunshine, NBA street, Metroid Prime, and SSX Tricky, all for under $200. That's a damn nice deal. I'm eBaying NBA Street, but I'm not expecting much more than $10.00 back... apparently, nobody wants their copy.

Right now though, I'm leaving the system at my fiance's house... I've got too much schoolwork to do, and I'd be tempted to play it.

Have you played NBA Street? If not I'd open it and give it a try first, even if you're not a big sports fan. It's a blast.

Also, you might want to try the exchange forum here. You can probably get another $20 game you're interested in, instead of $10.

I hate basketball, and I've always hated sports games. The only two I could ever stand were Tecmo Bowl and NFL2k (and neither of those is basketball).

I might look at the exchange forum. Thanks for the suggestion.

Best Buy is giving away NBA Street if you buy a GC.

A memory card is extra, correct? spasmolytic said he got 2 memory cards and all the other stuff for $150. Just wondering how.

Buy a GC at Best Buy and get NBA Street for free.

That was the deal last week anyway, not sure if it's still going on this week.

You could buy a Gamecube and get NBA Street and another game (Starfox, Super Smash Bros., Metroid Prime, and one other?) for free. At some Best Buys, the Gamecube could be the bundle with Super Mario Sunshine and a memory card, so you'd essentially be getting the Gamecube, 3 games, and a memory card for $159.00.

i thought about not opening NBA street and selling it on half, but i opened it and like it. it's a fun arcade style game where it's about as easy to block as it is to score...plus the announcer is sort of cool. my girlfriend knows diddly about basketball and she was having a pretty good time with it. she pulled off ONE alley oop and was talking trash the rest of the night.

My TV doesn't have a free component input, so I'd have to use S-Video. Unless there's a DVI cable available, which I'm guessing isn't likely.

Are a lot of GameCube games progressive scan?

I got the 2 memory cards because the Mario Sunshine that is bundled with the GC has one, and for some reason Target is bundleing a memory card with about 4 different games. Metroid, Starfox, Animal Crossing and Resident Evil all had copies that came with a memory card. So I took a free copy of Metroid with the memory card.

Aha. I'll have to check out Target. I'm really thinking I'm going to do this. Metroid for my freebie and I'll probably get Rogue Squadron at Best Buy for $20 ($15 if I grab a CD case with a $5 card in it).

What are the other good games for the Cube and what is coming out this year that everyone is waiting on?

I got mine at launch when it was $199. Even though this is a much better deal, I'm glad I didn't wait. I've had a lot of fun with my GameCube.

I'm still trying to decide on the gamecube, its driving me nuts. As of right now, I have the PS2 and Xbox consoles.

I just came back from bestbuy and tried the mario sunshine deal with the free game, no go at best buy. Then I went to target and saw the gamecube with a free game and memory card. I stood there for about 15 minutes trying to decide, so I just left.

I think I'm going to wait til I get my giftcard from cc(msn reward money). Hopefully Fry's will have a pertty good deal this friday. A couple weeks ago, they had the gamecube, game, and wavebird for $149. I hopy they will have this combo again, so I can pricematch with cc. I will have it before Zelda comes out. Oh well, back to playing FF X.

This deal is great, I got one at Christmas which worked out to 200 for a Platinum, extra controller, memory card, Mario and Smash Bros. Melee.

I saw the Target deal. It is pretty good even if you already have system. If I was not so poor I would be all over it. Prime plus a 251 memory card for 50, that is a 20 savings.
