Best Buy Pricematch Policy???
Anyone here have any experience with bestbuy pricematching their competitors??
Here's my question, if they pricematch another store, will they still let you drop the 5 dollar off coupon on top of it??? (gamer's gift card coupon)
I have a friend who says they let him do it, but that they had to manually alter the price for another 5 dollars cheaper because the computer wouldn't take the 5 dollar coupon.
Any thoughts?? experiences??
Thanks

That's exactly what I do as well. I never got turned down once, except for one instance where the cashier did have to go in and manually adjust the price, for whatever reason.PAL

Check out this deal
Went to Best Buy today to cash in on the $00.01 Strategy Guides today and came across this deal...
First I had the book of coupons they were "giving away" a while back (I think you were supposed to buy an X-box to get the coupon book) that is shaped like an X. The coupon book had a $50 off coupon for either the 2.1 or 5.1 Altec Lansing gaming speaker system. I looked at them and the 5.1 was marked $199.99 on the shelf tag. The 2.1 was marked $49.99 on the shelf tag.
I took it up with 3 guides to the cashier, but the speakers came up $99.99. So I asked them about the shelf tag, which they went and got and so they adjusted the price to $49.99. Then I whipped out the coupon, which prompted the cashier to go and "discuss it with someone", after giving me a funny look and me explaining that the marked price did not mention any rebate or coupon, etc and that the coupon should come off the "marked price". When he came back, he said no problem, then asked me for 3 cents... A set of Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers and 3 guides (2 Metroid Fusions (one for me and one for a friend) and a Shinobi, again for a friend) for $ 00.03
. Then they asked if I wanted the Product Replacement on the speakers, which I declined...
here's the speakers...

my local Best Buy never keeps up with the tagged prices compared to the system price. Usually I have to hear about a deal here before getting a bargain... today not keeping up with tagging the proper price bit them in the a$$... It was cool for them to honor it rather painlessly though.

Holy crap! You have a very friendly best buy! Has anyone else seen these speakers for that price or done the same thing?

However, whenever you can show BB cashiers that the tagged price is lower than the price that rang up, they will adjust the price. Such an example from last week was the Beach Spiker game (GCN). It was dropped to $9.99 recently, but then came back up to $29.99. But since the employees did not change the price tag at one of the BBs, I was able to talk them into letting me have one for $9.99, even though it came up $29.99 when the guy scanned it.

They were in the gaming section, near the X-Box stuff, sitting on a shelf. Very large boxes. One of each 5.1 and 2.1. The last time I was back in they had not placed a new set of 2.1 where I took mine (however, my local Best Buy is very bad at restocking and putting games and consoles out, I usually have to ask them for things), but the 5.1 set was still there. The $49.99 tag had been removed (when they did my deal).
For free the speakers are great. Honestly, I would never have bought something like this, preferring to put my money into other things (I'm a cheap a$$...
). They work very well with my TV, as I have a Panasonic with the capability to turn off the speakers and set variable output, such that I can control the external speakers with the TV volume (remote).
I have my DVD player directly hooked into my shelf system so, I don't use it for movies (right now), but have used it for watching TV (some) and for playing games. Sounds good for games, been playing Baldur's Gate on my cube and the background music sounds nice. I haven't really cranked it up, as I play after the kids go to bed, but it is definitely an improvement over the TV speakers for gaming.
There is a wired remote control, that allows settings for Gaming, TV or MAX Bass. It also has the volume setting, and the on/off.
I have not placed the setup optimally, as I don't have the space, and have small kids who might monkey with it. The surround speakers are placed on each side of my TV, slightly pushed back (again to keep it from the kids), and the sub placed in a corner, behind some things. The surrounds are shielded and I do not see any interference in the TV picture.

Even if you do not find a BB with a ticketed price of $49.99, there is a forty (40) dollar MIR and with the $50 coupon your grand total would be $9.99 (plus tax if applicable).

I didn't see a shelf tag for these last time, but I'll see if I can "sniff" them out and get a good deal for a penny.

When I add the speakers to my cart online and check to see if the store has it in stock, the two stores close to me say it does, but I know that the online thing isn't always right.
We'll find out on Saturday.

I happen to work at a Best Buy in GA, and our policy is for you to usually bring in a proof of price for the item you wish topurchase, and then we call to make sure it's in stock.

I use to work at BB, if the person is too lazy to call up which alot of them are then they'll just write it up with the lower price and tell you to bring the ad to the register
