Favorite PC Games from long ago?
Everybody had console games growing up, but I wondered what were your favorite PC based games from long ago? The 4 I remember most fondly were Janitor Joe (probably one of the first arcade type game), Montezuma'a Revenge (One of the first scrolling games for PC), and the ORIGINAL Lode Runner (Sierra released a remake), and Thexder (I could never beat this one). I played a lot of the Sierra adventure games (LSL, King's Quest, Space Quest), but I could never beat them. So, what games for PC did you like?

I loved the Bard's Tale and early Might and Magic games. I also enjoyed the old Sierra games. I think the first Hero Quest game was my favorite. One of the few Sierra games I've actually finished. I think I also finished one of the King's Quest games.

There are a few i really loved.
Scorched Earth
Loom
Zork
Wasteland
Willy the Worm
and an old game i played on a BBS called Phantasy Zone (i think). Text based of course, multiplayer, monsters and treasure... ahhhh i loved it.

In the mid 90's I loved playing PC games, but now thats its mostly Shooters and online gaming I've lost interest. I miss all the adventure/mystery games and puzzle solving games that were common years ago. Dreamcatcher is trying to keep the genre alive, but I don't know if they are having much success.

C64: mule, pirates, seven cities of gold, mars saga, wasteland, autoduel, battletech: crescent hawks inception

Also enjoyed a lot of the original Apogee games -- Duke Nukem 1 & 2, Biomenace (or whatever it was called), Halloween Harry, etc.
X-Wing was awesome. Bought my first joystick for that. Still use it for Crimson Skies and other games -- midi port -- dunno if I'll be able to with my next computer. Never did get around to playing TIE Fighter.
Loom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Graphic Adventure, etc.
Airborne Ranger and Ancient Art of War (and AAW at Sea) were also great classics.

Jumpman on the C64. I think it was released by Epyx, who did Summer Games. I've always wondered why they never continued this franchise...

Jumpman was great.
X-Com was fantastic.
The original Civs were wonderful.
My (really old) additions would be.. Rick Dangerous for Amiga and IBM PC, and Star Control for PC.

and the old PC version of Car Wars...I can't remember the game's actual name but it was based on the Steve Jackson Role PLaying game. You bought a car did courier jobs to make money. If you got killed you better have a clone of game over.
