Which classic game deserves a modern makeover?

My vote goes to Speedball 2 on the Amiga. Best game EVER! My friends and I actually worked up a sweat playing this game. If anyone ever did a port or a 3D graphics update to this, with the same speed and fun as the old game, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Giant: ever play Tempest 64? I heard that was really good.

My choice goes to Mario Bros. I'm not sure why Nintendo chose to never touch this classic game again. It had so much going for it, I'm sure they could have made a franchise of the characters. A 3D version would be cool, but even updated 2D versions would have been nice. :sighs:

I was thinking about this not too long ago and I thought of several... Among other things, I think Leisure Suit Larry needs a revival. Roadwar 2000 would also be cool. I also wouldn't mind seeing a new Quarantine. Bioforge was supposed to have a sequel which I had preordered... then I got a letter stating it wasn't going to come out. :/ These aren't super old games, but I think they deserve an update. I'd also like to see Rise of the Triad brought back, but 3drealms isn't likely to do any such thing for quite some time.

For old classics - I'd like to see Berzerk, Warlords, Road Rash, Flashback, Haunted House, Afterburner, and Space Harrier.

Battletoads

I'd really like to see the original Metal Gear for the 8-bit Nintendo brought up to date. Maybe add it in as a bounus for a "directors cut" for a future edition.

Been years since I played RCR, but I'm thinking an update would be along the lines of Shenmue possibly.

Again.. Smash Brothers.. playing the Zelda level in Adventure mode with Link had me drooling for another action-based Zelda game too.. in fact, I busted out my NES yesterday to play this one, since my roommate was watching TV and I couldn't play Ocarina..

I disagree about using the Smash Bros engine. It's really not that impressive graphically, and they'd have to totally retool the control. The control was ok for the brief 2D adventure stages, but would be no where near responsive enough for a whole 2D game.

They should have made Smash Melee like the N64 version.
