Xbox has a lot of the trouble recognizing CD-R. However, it does seem to handle CD-RW a lot better.

Yup, CD-RW is what I used. Just transfer your tracks.

Can the xbox recognize a CD-RW audio disc with CD-Text or do I still have to input the track names?

You can find a list of cd-r that are playable on some x-box hacker sites. However, as noted several times, it should read your cd-rw.
You would have to do some modifications to be able to read DVD recorded discs. This would push it into the totally illegal realm Is it illegal to own an axe because there are axe murderers? |

Actually it is illegal to mod your Xbox. Under the DMCA, it is unlawful to use any device that has its main purpose to circumvent a copy protection scheme. A mod chip does just that. Not to mention the fact that the bios you use on a chip uses modified copyrighted code from Microsoft.
With regards to what media the Xbox reads, it's Samsung drives, not Philips which can read CD-Rs. The irony is that the Samsung drives are in newer systems so newer systems actually can read more media than older ones. |

One would have to prove the user was using a mod chip primarily to play copied games. As it goes, a mod chip is able to do more than just that which allows these chips to bypass most (if not all) of the legal issues surrounding them. |
I have a quick question....Does the Xbox (with the DVD playback kit) play VCD's? If this is a stupid question, sorry, but I'd like to know the answer. Thanks in advance.

Centurion: The problem is, copy protection doesn't mean playing copied games. In order to get any software to run, you have to bypass the security check which is the copy protection scheme. So yes, under DMCA, it is illegal. Mod chips can't do jack without bypassing the security check. And again, the bios is modified MS code. Using that is illegal in itself.

CD-RW, as you've probably read earlier is your answer.
|
nevermind the fact it says on the side of the box to not mod the seXbox
