Problems with GameCube

I've heard about the problems people have had with their X-Box or PS2, has anyone had any problems with their GC or heard of problems with them? What was the problem?

Got it at launch, never had a problem. I even accidentally knocked it off my entertainment center and it still has never hesitated to work perfectly.

Gamecube falls under the category of "electronics with small moving parts" - of course people experience problems with it. Not everyone, but some people do... apparently, Nintendo is good about replacing them under warranty.

Haven't had any problems with mine either. But then again, I never heard of problems with the xbox or ps2 either.

There were a couple of threads here a while back about people who had some issues, but as I remember all seem to be corrected rapidly by Nintendo. I've never had an issue with mine.

Got mine at launch and no problems.

Like trigger said, I'm sure people have problems with them. Going by interent boards I've seen less GC problems than PS2 or X-box, but that's certainly not scientific evidence.

I got mine last May after the price drop and the only problems I've had with mine have been with one copy of Rogue Leader that would always lock up on Hoth. I exchanged it for another copy and haven't had a problem since. Haven't had any major problems with my PS2(sometimes the controller won't be recognized until i unplug and replug it) and my XBox has been flawless(my brother got it last February and sold it to me a few weeks ago. He never had issue with it and I haven't either). I definitely think the "widespread" reports of problems with the gaming consoles is overblown on the internet.

Never had a problem with my GameCube. NBA 2K3 locks up, but thats apparently a software problem and nothing to do with the hardware. Its rare, but I have heard of a few GameCube problems, but it has a one year warranty and Nintendo is very good about fixing problems.

My PS2 on the other hand (third PS2) is a total disaster. Sony has a great idea with their disposable consoles though. Use it for 9 months then toss it and get another one. No wonder they have sold so many.

Gamecube falls under "indestructible" Japanese product. Like Nissan engines, they just keep going.

I've known many Nissan engines that have problems...

Nintendo makes great products that are very reliable and tough. On top of that they have great customer support and still support older systems.
