Ahh, cartman, so *you're* Oz Rosenberg. I figured you were one of my Buffy acquaintances based on your name, heh. I accepted your invite...I'll look for ya!
You can join a friend's game from the friend list, although the ones I tried all had invites....not sure if that matters or not. In other words, if you specifically want to play with someone on your Friends list, Create a Match and then Invite a Friend. Worked for me. And a follow-up to my previous few posts....I played against 5 or 6 strangers tonight and except for one short bout of slowdown, the games were smoooooth. Much better than last night. Although I will say that playing a normal non-Live game right afterwards can be a shocker...the game is noticeably faster. But again, it's nothing that can't be accustomed to. It's definitely been a blast playing it online, although I did have one cable-puller who apparently didn't like that I trounced his first character and didn't feel like finishing. I was creamed 4 or 5 times tonight, one of the guys still on his first character, but I sucked it up and took my impending losses. Wish that was a shared response. |
At some point I believe they'll get cable pulling right, it must be difficult though. It could be they really want to give people the benefit of the doubt, or they have difficulty detecting who initiated the cable pull. If the former is what's true then that's probably the main problem, if that's not the case, then yeah, just detect which side pulled the cable and slap them with a loss and the other guy with a nuetral. That way it punishes the offender and won't let someone exploit it by racking up free wins.

BTW: that's the beauty of a game like GR, where you get a bunch of guys involved, there's no rankings so no reason to quit if you get killed a lot, and games rarely get ended early. Also I have very little problem finding games as well, maybe 1 or 2 tries at the most. Tons of fun.

It's official. The REFLEX stick sold at Ebgames SUX!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on this and invest in an X-Arcade stick
|
I want to set up a mame cab so I've been looking at the X Arcade anyhow I suppose I could get bot a PC and Xbox connector. If you guys still have the big old faithful original Xbox controller around, it's much better than the Controller S, I'm not saying it's the end all, but it's better.

I just picked up this game last nite after reading some good comments about it. I liked it alot. Played ~20 matches. Got my butt whooped 18 times. Only won twice. :(
Out of the 20+ matches, 2 lagged. It was noticable immediately at the character selection screen. Both times, I asked the other player if they want to continued. I quit out with agreement from the other player once, and continued to play the other time. The rest of the 18+ matches went without any hint of lag. It's like playing with an invisible player2. :) Also have not ran into any cable pullers last nite. No smack talking either. Most people are either quiet or give compliments on good matches. I tried both the standard controller and small controller. Neither was suitable for pulling the dragon punch moves. So I ordered an X-Arcade stick this morning. $150 for the 2 player version, free shipping. So we'll see how it goes after I receive the X-Arcade. Put me in your friends list if you're looking for a non-puller. "S8 Spook" is my gamertag. Thong |
Thong what kinda connection are you on?
|
I'm on iDSL connection. dslreports.com reports a constant 135k/135k speed.

My new strategy.
Im currently ranked about 2800. Lately I've been going up against some pretty high ranked player. 234, 512,34(!), etc. Now, I know there's an almost 0 chance of me winning, so instead of fighting a futile battle, I throw a wrench into the works. I pick all random characters. Set the cursor on the question mark and hit the button 3 times. I still get my butt kicked, but it's fun using different characters, and it also screws with the opponents head a bit. All of a sudden they're playing against E.Honda and Eagle, and they have no idea what to expect. D |

Yup. I'm on iDSL which is basically glorified ISDN 128k. I'm too far from the CO to get regular DSL.
Contrary to logic, iDSL is actually more expensive than regular DSL. My company is paying for my connection so I don't know the exact cost, but a friend of mine just got his iDSL as well and he's paying $80/month. My provider is Covad Communications. I have the X-Arcade on order. Hopefully will be here this week. From all the research I did, people have indicated that it will work with Live and the headset. Thong |
Geez, jessecrx, was I lagging or something? I didn't see any, but you left after 1 game!
|
Ok. My X-Arcade arrived yesterday. On the Xbox adapter are 2 slots for memory cards. Only 1 of those will work with the Live Headset. You'll know when you see the green light by the mute button.

Ummm, what about impressions on the FEEL and responsiveness of the stick?
|
It feels just like an arcade stick. It clicks. It's got that springy feel like all the arcade machines. Response is good. I didn't detect any controller lags when playing. Oh, and it's easy to program when using with MAME.
I bought the dual and the 2 sticks are pretty close together. I can see 2 players using it if it's mounted in a cabinet. But there's no way 2 adults can sit next to each other and use this without banging elbows and shoulders. Why buy the dual then? I needed 2 sticks for Smash TV in MAME. :D Thong |

Does anyone have a lag problem where the moves won't come out immediately but after 1-2 seconds after input? I can't do any combos because of that lag. #@$%@#&) Piss me off...arrgh..

I've been playing online using the X-Arcade. There are matches that's lagging really bad. And some just a tiny bit.
I can't tell if the lag is from the X-Arcade or just internet lag. How do you tell? Also, where did you hear that the X-Arcade introduces lag when playing online? Thong |
Try using your regular Xbox controller for online play. Just test the overall responsiveness of it. See how the reaction time is. Then test the X-Arcade.
Here is the thread that many X-arcade owners have been talking on regarding the subject. http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/show...threadid=22900 |
Now, I'm all paranoid about the lag issue. :(

Just bumping this to see if you guys are still playing this on Live. I was thinking about getting it since the only other Live game I have is Unreal (and I haven't played it in 2 months).
I am not a big Fighter Game fan but I did enjoy DOA3 a lot more than I thought I would. How does this game compare? Is it tough for an average gamer to pick it up and have fun or are you constantly pressing "LRupdownABYXRLup" to get a decent move? |
I haven't played it for the last several weeks ever since I picked up on MAME emulators.
