IMHO, avoid DK64 at all costs unless you really, really like Rare.

I still think Mario 64 is the most fun I've had with a 3D platformer.

Wow...DK64 is my favorite game on the system, just ahead of Zelda OOT. I'm currently playing through it for the fifth time. Other games I like a lot include Super Mario 64, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Harvest Moon 64, Zelda MM, Wave Race 64, International Superstar Soccer 64, Excitebike 64, Rayman 2, Diddy Kong Racing, and Blast Corps.

As for Silicon (not Silicone) Valley, I thought it was good but not great. It is definitely more challenging than most 3D platformers, but I ended up somewhat disappointed with it (maybe because I read IGN's glowing review and expected too much).

Heh. I dig all of the games you mentioned, never played HM64, but DK64 got on my nerves from the get-go. I didn't like the Banjo games either.

How does this add to the thread. Are you just asking for a fight or something. The N64 still a has a good selection of games, despite the fact they are not as pretty. He did not ask for a review of the purchase, but suggestions on the best games.

Yea, I tried it out, but the load times killed it for me. The new cut scenes were cool though. I don't need to worry about the batt running out on my cart, I replaced it a couple years back.

What type of battery does it take? Did you replace it yourself or send it back to the company?

All of the best games I've played have already been suggested. I don't think I saw anyone mention Pilotwings 64, it's a fun and quirky game. Dr. Mario 64 is a great game if you like Tetris type puzzle games.

I have to agree with Mr. Wiggum when it comes to Donkey Kong 64, it was just horrible. The camera was so bad that it was unplayable. No matter what I did, I always ended up walking towards the camera, so that I couldn't see where the hell I was going. After a while I just gave up. I payed less for the game + expansion pack than the exapnsion pack was selling for alone, so I wasn't too upset.

Here is the link to ign64's top choices, it's a very good starting point.

As for Bomberman, I have Bomberman Hero and find it to be pretty stupid (though my 5 year old plays it on occasion).

I'm currently addicted to Mario Party 3. Amazing how one can enjoy a 3 year old girl's game.

Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie
Hydro Thunder
Ogre Battle
Starcraft
Mario Tennis
Mario Kart
Diddy Kong Racing

Love the system.
