I think I'll be returning this one. I never played the original PD and I have played other shooters in the past but, the gameplay is very dull. Graphics alone do not make a good game. Anyone want to trade PDO for Ghost Recon?

Thanks for the advice Tuan Jim. You had the same exact problems that I am having. The hardest part is when he locks the red glowing orb around you. I couldn't get out of it. He just shot me until I died. I will try what you said and switch to Base Wing and shoot the lasers before they shoot me. Thanks again for the help. Although it can be frustrating at times, this is a great game.

So to anyone who beat the game on normal and hard I have a question about the ending.
Question on the rankings. What's highest? I have gotten both S and A grades. The only 100% and A I got was on the boss level. Is S better than A?

I just got this game on Saturday...it's a lot of fun. My eyes literally water from the graphic detail. The level design is amazing, with haunting settings (particularly Level Five) or psychodelia a la "Rez" (Level 7). A lot of the creatures seem inspired by "Nausicaa, Valley of the Wind" which is one of my favorite movies. This is especially true of Level 2, which could be ripped directly out of Miyazaki's mind.
This game fills a need I've had in my game collection for a while: simple fun. It's the kind of game you can quickly start up, play for fifteen minutes and put down again. Too many games these days are long, involved processes where you're expected to dedicate at least an hour every time you start it up. A prime example is "Splinter Cell". SC is one of the best games I've ever played, but each level demands that you proceed slowly and carefully, thinking out each move. This is extremely rewarding but time consuming. If you've got time to dedicate three hours a day sitting in front of the tube, it's not a problem. But if you're like me (kids, working spouse, mortgage, two cars to pay for) it's tough to find the time.
I think the key to whether or not you'll like PDO is if you have the inclination to get better at it. It you just play it through once on easy and have no interest in getting better, you're not going to think it's much of a game. If you get into seeing if you can get an "S" rating on Hard level 10, you'll love it. The game is very simple but very deep. It's very much like old school coin ops, you can pick it up in ten minutes, but it takes a long, long time to get good.
