What are you guys doing to cause so many of you to trip over your controller cords? I have been playing games since I was 5 years old and have tripped over a cord maybe once in my life.
And even though everyone says it's a fake...I think the design is very cool looking.

Aside from lack of rumble (which they could do), the other downside to wireless is having to replace batteries.

Don't get me wrong, the Wavebird is cool. I understand the whole argument about forgetting about the rumble feature after playing without it for a while. But I'm not interested in taking a step back... I don't think wireless gaming appeals to that many gamers anyway (especially not as much as the rumble feature). Wireless controllers with rumble features would be incredible however, but the price and battery draining power that it would require probably doesn't make that feasible as a console pack-in.

My main satisfaction with wireless controllers is not having to worry about cords getting tangled up. That and the feel is just different. Freedom is rarely a bad thing.

also, since my GC sits on a shelf directly above my TV, not having the cord draped in front of the screen is good.
It's nice to be able to be leaned back in a chair, gaming without concern for the cord. I love my Wavebird, and will never go back.

I didn't ever thing rumble controllers were that great. How was it really taking a step forward...it doesn't really add anything for me to have my controller shake when something happpens, find it more annoying than anything.
I will take wireless over rumble any day, and that's what I do.

Yes, having 10ft of cord to get tangled up even worse and tripped over all the time is much better.

I never said wireless controllers were a bad idea - I think they're nice. The Xbox controllers have 9' cords and you can't trip over them because of the quick release safety feature and I don't know how you tangle up the cords, but it's never happened to me. Obviously, cordless is nice - I think the wavebird is a good controller. Not being tethered is better (with the exception of those 2 things I mentioned), but if Nintendo had made their cords longer - there would be less of a need for a wireless controller.

How can you not tangle up cords?
If you just stuff it in with the system they get tangled up. If you wrap them around the controller then cords get kinked up, not to mention that you have to waste the time winding them when you're done playing them and unwinding them when you want to play.
You must know some secret or be really anal about storing your controllers.
Longer cords don't eliminate the need at all IMO. The longer the cord, the more it will get tangled. My PS2 controller with an extension cable drives me nuts.
Personally I can deal with cords fine if I have to (as I do with my PS2), but I love the added convenience of not having one. I like everything to be as convenient as possible. It's one of the rules I live by.

I don't know why my cords don't get kinked up and yours do. I don't stuff them anywhere and I do make it a point not to wrap them around the controller because that's how you damage cords. I usually just leave one or two controllers out so I can just play when I want to. If more people come over, then we uncoil some extra controllers. When they leave and I get some free time, I coil the cord back up. Takes me 10 seconds... I coil the cord around my fist and then sit the controller on top of the coiled cord and put it on the floor next to the subwoofer. Maybe I am a bit anal about cords in the eyes of some people... I have been in several bands and I learned how to take care of cords so they wouldn't short out... it doesn't take any longer to wrap a cord properly rather than improperly, and I don't think it makes me anal because I take care of my things.
Anyway - as I've said - cordless controllers are great. The wavebird is nice. the end... no need to drill me about it and call me names... didn't I place a restraining order on you, by the way? You're not supposed to come within 50 lines of code of my posts.

Dude it was a joke, lighten up. Did you not see the
?
For me I'm a neat freak (so acutally I'm probably more anal) and can't stand to leave my controllers out, and I don't have the patience to take the 10 seconds to coil them up. I'll probably be hesistant to buy a next gen system before a price drop if one doesn't come with a wireless controller packed in.
As for a "restraining order" I recall you saying you weren't going to reply to my posts, but nothing else. At any rate I'll reply to whoever I want unless the mods say otherwise. Again, lighten up.

Forget kinking up or looking messy, you know how many times I have got up after putting the controller down and forgotten to take off my headset? Thank god for the quick release. But a wavebird would be better.

We need wireless. 100% of the time. I just bought 3 controllers for my XBOX and I can see gaming nights at my house get ugly real fast.
I'm pretty careful when I wal around but other sure as heck aren't.
AS for this rendering I think it's amazing looking. I would love to see the next generations be bold like this. The PS2, XBOX, GC and most everything else looked boring. I say bring on the change.

I just hope that they shrink the XBox down. That is the main reason that I don't want one... it is FUGLY. Plus I haven't seen an exclusive XBox game that I want, except maybe Crazy Taxi 3. My Cube is awesome... and I thank Fry's every time I play because the deal included a free Wavebird! I agree, rumble is over-rated.
That being said... I like all the features of this concept/fan fake, but I think it looks just like a Sony CD Boombox!
