GameCube owners: Are you getting Skies of Arcadia : Legends?

Nope.
Hated it on Dreamcast, don't think a few little spruce ups will help it much.
So much failed potential :-\

What about it seemed like failure? - because I felt that the game succeeded at every turn.
I might rent it to give it another go around. Hopefully the voice fx will be turn-off-able as well - while not a big deal, after a while they do get grating. And I hope they "fixed" the ship battles, which I found to be pretty boring.
I dunno, maybe I just think it's boring

Oh, I liked Skies of Arcadia on the DC. An RPG fan should love it. I just got a Gamecube but
probably won't buy SofA unless there's an addition to the game I just can't live without.

Gamespot's review is up... http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories...909788,00.html
Unfortunately it looks like the amount of random battles hasn't been reduced. That was the only reason I didn't get this game for the Dreamcast and I have second thoughts about getting it now. My only hope is that the battles move fast (unlike the recent FF games) because I really want an RPG, this RPG, right now.

No, I won't be getting it. This was perhaps my most favorite rpg of all time, but the amount of random battles annoyed the heck out of me. If they had been toned down for the Gamecube release, then this definitely would have been on my must buy list.

The biggest changes I’ve noticed so far are in the battles. For the most part, battles are now less frequent, though there have been a couple times when I was hit with 2 battles very, very close to each other. I don’t know why this happened. But overall, the distance between battles is much more tolerable than it was in the Dreamcast version.

I got the game yesterday and I've put in about 5 hours. I'm loving the game so far. I never played the DC version but so far the random encounter rate doesn't seem too bad. The true test will be to see how I feel about it in a few days.

I picked this up and haven't played the DC version. Not sure about the random battle frequency. At times I'll walk a seconds after a battle and get into another one. It's one a few RPG's I played that definitely puts the "random" into random battles. Most RPG's I played have you walk a certain amount of time or distance until you get into a fight. This one has battles that can happen anytime. Not sure about fans that played the DC version, but so far I'm not hating the random battles. Then again I'm only a few hours into it.
The game is pretty good, not the truly great non-Square/Enix I'd hope. Of recent RPG's this one ranks above Wild ARMS 3 but under Suikoden III for me.

I picked it up this week as well.
Very Very ****ing cool.
Graphics :
Not bad for a Dreamcast port. I wish SEGA would have upgraded them a bit for the 'Cube , but I can't complain. The camera is easy to control as well. My only complaint? Sometimes when you get into battles, the camera swivels around a certain way, and you can't see the enemies clearly, and you may miss one, and attack the wrong one first.
Sound : Hit or MIss. The voices are terrible IMHO, but the music is cool.
Gameplay : Pretty easy! Very easy to get into, GAmeCube controller feels very natural. I was able to figure out everything on my own, and not even look at the manual!
My only question : How do I eat the moonberries?

I fired this game up yesterday and when I heard the awesome title screen music I was instantly reminded why I love this game so much
. One thing I noticed is that the battle load times are a lot quicker than before, its so fast it cuts off the screen shattering animation and instead of the camera swinging around 3-4 times when loading the characters and enemies it only needs 1-2. The encounter rate doesn't seem as bad as the reviews made it out to be, in some areas it actually seems less than before but not so much that the game becomes too easy, and with the quicker loading times it isn't that big of a deal. Time to go back to playing
