X-Box Wireless Controller-- which one?

Hello there,

I am a huge fan of my GameCube Wavebird controller, and I want one for my X-Box. I was just at Best Buy and noticed 3 different brands, all expensive!

Mad Catz- $60
Pelican- $40
Logitec- $70

They are all expensive, so which one do you have or suggest?

Hell yeah.. if anything comes even close to the greatness of Wavebird, I want one for my little Xbox too!

And on topic, the 3 companies listed above are notorious for bad 3rd party controllers.. just my opinion though.

Mad Catz and Pelican peripherals have burned me in the past, but I don't know if their quality has improved with the new generation of consoles. I don't know about Logitec, though.

The logitech got pretty good reviews, but the biggest complaint was that there was no expansion slot on the controller itself. So, if you wanna use your headset with Live, you have to plug it into the base station... at the console.

I have the Logitech. It is nice. The slots are on the receiver plugged into the console. The analog stick buttons are very tight. Haven't had a problem with them yet. Button layout is good(same as S controller) Analog sticks are rubbery like the PS2. Digital pad same as S controller. The only thing I have a problem with is marathon gaming. After about three hours it is an uncomfortable controller. The way the back is designed due to batteries, where your middle finger rest(mine anyway) is cramped. Other than that it is good.

I got it at CompUSA for $59. Steep. But nice for cordless gaming.

Check out TechTV's reviews of a few wireless controllers.

I have the Logitec. I'm not on Live, so it works fine for me.

Has anyone found the Logitech at BB or CC? They're not listed on the websites.

Thanks...I have gift cards and a 20% mail in rebate to burn.

DO NOT buy the MadCatz. This controller will not last as long as you want it to.

Even though it was $10 cheaper, it looked $40 cheaper. I picked up the Logitech. With the 20% rebate, it was $60 after tax.

In stock and J&R. $59.88 plus shipping ($4.95) and tax if you're in NY only.

I used it today, and frankly, it's pretty darn sweet. Just a bit wider than I'm used to, but it's very impressive.

Anybody try the Pelican one yet?

Just curious, as I'll probably pick up an X-Box in the near future, and I have really gotten used to using my Wavebird for my GC. I honestly cannot see using a wired controller (due to seating, TV configuration and location where I have my consoles.) It's just so much more comfortable to sit in the recliner without having a cord connected. I realize the X-Box has much longer cords, etc than others but a wireless controller would definitely be a plus toward me picking up an X-box. Also, I simply too cheap to pay anything more than $39 ($34 after $ Best Buy coupon ) for a controller.

Thanks in advance.

Also, anybody know the complete list of games that Best Buy is giving away free this week as a 3rd free game (one additional to the 2 that come pre-packaged with the bundle)?

Personally, I wouldn't buy a wireless controller for the X-Box yet

I broke down and bought the MadCatz. Although it looks cheaper, it feels very nice to hold, and has been working perfectly fine for me. I guess there are some bad experiences people have had, but I have had plenty of luck with MadCatz stuff that I have bought in the past, inlcuding the PS2 controller. I had very bad luck with Pelican accessories in the past.

All of the wireless controller options for XBox seem so expensive in comparison to the nice Nintendo Wavebird.
