Anyone Get War of the Monsters Yet?

I picked this up yesterday. It's a very cool game and a lot of fun. Sure it's only a quarter-inch deep, but what a blast. It looks great. the levels aren't that big, but they're so detailed. It's such a visceral thrill to take the Godzilla character down the Vegas strip and demolish the Excaliber, Treasure Island and especially Circus Circus casinos one by one. It doesn't have nearly the fighting depth of Virtua Fighter or Tekken 4, but it's very easy to just play around with. I almost missed that Stones concert on HBO because I lost track of time. It's hard to believe that they used the TM:B engine for this game, but it just looks amazing. I would at least recommend this as a rental and I had no problem paying $35 for it (with BB coupon).
Anyone else get this yet?

Yeah - picked it up last week. The demo had me hooked and this is more of a great thing.. The feel of fighting in a real city and destroying the entire place while battling is captured perfectly (not that I should know what that feeling is...) The game is just pure fun though.. the demo was a blast and the full game is more of a great thing.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I can't get into this game. I totally agree with the Game Informer review. The game is cheap. It seems that the same attacks used by you and your opponent have very little effect on them, but they can demolish you in no time.

It truly is based on the TM:B engine and is just as hard. Only TM:B at least felt more balanced overall. Here, you hampered by a lazy camera, and AI that is not only smart as hell, but cheap. It's tough to actually fight cause the comp is usually homing in on all the health and powerup icons and when you catch up to them, they wreck the hell out of you.

I would have liked it a bit better had they fixed the camera and AI issues, but I still prefer Godzilla for the cube, especially with 4 player support. When I play War of the Monsters, all I get is frustration.

I'm really tempted to get this game. I've been waiting for it for a while, but I can't believe it's only two players. I guess I've been spoiled by the recent purchase of Gamecube Godzilla for 20 bucks.
Anybody that has both want to compare the two games?

It is a little disappointing that it's only 2 player multi, but short of using an I-link system or internet play, there was no other choice. It's brilliant the was that the game "splits apart" with two players free to roam about the city, and there would be no way to replicate that in 3 or 4 person versions.
I agree that the AI is very tough, but it doesn't feel quite like the frutrating barrage of enemy fire that you get with TM:B to me; I almost always feel like I have a chance againt these guys, especially if I find the radio antennas first . As I said, I'm having a good time with it. Nothing quite like picking up a fleeing police car and beating an opponent over the head with it.

It can be hard at first although I am enjoying destroying Las Vegas

I think people should try it with a rental at least to see if they like it.

I was having fun running around just beating on things at first and still managed to take out my monster adversary. They do give you a couple lives so if the monster kills you you can try again

Of course the first Boss took me out the first time I fought him.

For those who love Godzilla. The Godzilla GC game will be coming to the PS2 so you can get to play that game if you do not own the GC.

Does anybody have any advice for me to beat those two dragon things in the Airfield level? I must have played that level 50 times and I can't beat those two.

I think it's too hard to be fun.

On the 'easy' difficulty, no less, I keep getting my ass handed to me no matter what my approach is. I mean, I don't mind a challange - but this is rediculous.

I cannot even seem to get two consecutive blows in until my opponent either slams me into a building, impales me or throws me accross the level. They either block everything I throw at them, or they start off a combo that I cannot get through - even if I block. I have never been able to pick up and throw a monster, myself - but they seem to be able to do it to me regularly. I cannot even pass the first level on the adventure mode. Sometimes it seems like I'm hitting a monster, only to look at my life-bar and realize that they're hitting me. And since the other monsters don't have life-bars, I can't tell what damage I'm doing to them - my guess is none, since I've yet to beat one. Using the fallen debris doesn't help either, because they pummel me either before I can pick some up - or just before I'm about to use it.

I'm trying to play this game like Powerstone - which I rule at - and I don't see how this game is too different from that - so why do I suck so much and what can I do to make this game fun. Because, otherwise, this game would be great.

Ant Farm,
OK, this is from PSM: (I'll use spoiler tags in case someone wants to try to beat it without help)
Spoiler:
The two monsters are quick but fragile, so after one goes down, the other soon follows. Be sure to pick up the big power up at the end of the runway before they do. Climb or destroy one of the two control towers to get a bunch of radio towers. Skewer one of the two in place and chase the other one. Throw the smaller planes at them or toss an enemy into a large plane for a big explosion and then beat him with the remaining pieces. Do not get caught in their crossfire, even if it means not climbing a tower for better weaponry. Finally, since they are power-based attacks, Kineticlops absorbs the blows the best.

Thanks Decker. I'll give it a shot and see if I have any better luck.

Appreciate the help.
