Rygar: The Legendary Adventure

I just rented it and the game is absolutely fantastic. The level design, graphics and especially the music are all top notch. The control is intuitive and responsive, combat is entertaining and the diskarmor combos help to keep it fresh. Even the boss battles are actually fun. There are some goofy camera angles from time to time and it is short, but this is how a 3D action game should be done.

I was disappointed by Devil May Cry and Shinobi so this was a real surprise. I personally wouldn't spend $50 on an action game that is this short, but it is definitely worth a rental and I'll buy it once the price comes down.

EGM gave a glowing review of this, but everywhere else it's been kind of mixed. Thanks for the review, I still have to pick this up one day, I loved the original. I don't know if I want to spend $50 on it though.

Cool. I was interested in this, but had been put off by comparisons to Devil May Cry as I hated that game. I'll at least give it a rental since you didn't like DMC either but liked this.

Thanks for bringing these great childhood memories back. My friends and I spent conquering the original NES game (even though the music annoyed the $%#@ out of us). So I deceded to give you comparison on how the graphics have improved over the last 16 years!

Wow, my view of this game is completely the opposite. The same old repetitive combos, really made this game boring for me and the camera angles were just frustrating as hell. With all the great reviews, I guess I was expecting something much better.

Shinobi, on the other hand, I thought was fantastic. Nice graphics, smooth gameplay, *amazing* use of the camera, and fun to play. Everything I thought Rygar could have been, but was not.

I went to rent this today, but it was out. I'm going to go back tomorrow and reserve a copy.
I loved Shinobi. It is yet another game on my list that I can't afford for a while, but really want.

Rygar has sold very poorly.

If you want it and can wait, it shouldn't be long before there's some serious discounting on it.

That's too bad. It's a real gem.

I assume that most people either:

A. Didn't know about it
B. Bought Shinobi
C. Waited for Devil May Cry 2

I can't wait for it to hit clearance!

this game was was pretty good. Nothing like using a Pizza as a weapon! the only problem i have with this game is that the first boss was pretty hard--i died like 10 times, but then I went through the rest of the game without even dying once. You basically use one of the diskarmors (forgot the name, it's been a while), and do the same 3 hit flaming combo, and you'll tear apart just about anything.

I agree...I played this game upon receiving it about two weeks ago and could not have been more bored. Great graphics...Rygar is kind of slow moving and the game is simply too easy. I sold it on ebay.

If you would have played Legendary mode you wouldnt be saying that, and did you get all 30 stones and pass the 30 level dungeon? This game does have good replay value, maybe not worth 50 bucks but it is worth buying at some time.

Pick up the new EGM and check out there score, there dead on.

No, because I did not want to play any further due to the repetitive gameplay. I did not state that I finished the game.....I played the game for a couple of hours and pretty much walked right thru to the point where I had had enough. The graphics are nice but for me the game itself did not hold my interest. I had the old Rygar on the Nintendo which was a great game for that period in gaming history.

For the people looking for this style of game......the developer did justice to Rygar with this release. I may pick this up again in the future if it ever hits the $20.00 mark.

the 30 level dungeon was crap. all u did was pick the heavenly diskarmor i think and just wave it around. only time it was hard was the 30th level when u had to go back to your 3 hit combo.

I dont get it, why is it when it comes to third person action games everyone has a complaint about the camera. As a whole I notice people griping about the cameras in ResEvil, Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, and now Rygar? We have Rygar as a demo in my store and Ive sold quiet a few copies. I have no complaint about the placement of camera, and plan to pick up this badboy on TUES. along with GunGrave.

Good going there Goldberg74 on those awesome screens! Well since i took part in that trade in deal Gamestops got going on and got The Getaway for free and DOAXVB for $9.99, it looks like ill be able to get this sooner than i thought, along with DMC2. I dont know, i played Shinobi and didnt like that one at all. But then again i was never a big Shinobi fan, Ninja Gaiden was where it was at for me, i cant wait to get that on the box.
