What I said was just a theory, it most likely is not true. My system created date was January 11, 2002. I bought it in March.

From all the things I have read, you put a new drive in and it will work whether you have X-Box v. 1 or 1.1 (the bundle deal is a new version I guess).

I suggest calling them back and trying it again. From what I've read on the XBOX Forums, some guys called back 4 times before they got the free fix offer. It can't hurt to try back again. Give them as little info as you can about the problem. Let them infer the rest and see what happens.

If that doesn't work after a few times, then start to bitch and moan a lot and ask for a manager. Tell them a friend had an XBOX older than yours that had the same problem and got fixed for free. Only do this stuff as a last resort though.

I don't know about the registration stuff, but you should still be able to get this fixed either way.
