well, for me, the loading seems unreasonably slow... but maybe that's normal? like a minute.

Did you reinstall it after the XP upgrade? If not, backup all your save files and reinstall.

Have you tried playing it in WinME compatibility mode? I don't have the game or I might have more suggestions.

I've had a similar problem with XP. But I can run it just fine on my older computer that still runs Win98. Go figure. If you ever come up with a solution please post it or email me.

Thanks,
Chris

I have Sims Deluxe w/ no expansions and that installed and runs fine on XP. It has locked up before, but I have not experienced the problems you have. Sorry I can't be more help.

Anyone know how to "fix" a "missing cabinet file" error when loading at 99% for Sims Online?

Well, I've never encountered any problems running the game (and all it's expansions) on XP. As gcribbs suggested, maybe the issue is with your video driver?

Sorry I couldn't be of more service, but I've never had a problem with any of the Sims games on my computer.

the big problem that i had was that i installed hot date... and it made the game unplayable - kept saying, "insert correct cd-rom". only thing i found was that it could be a safedisc issue.

so i uninstalled everything and reinstalled deluxe only. i was told to install the expansions in order. but i'm keeping them off until i get house party.

vacation and unleashed worked fine.

I had the same problem after upgrading to XP. Sims would install, load, go to the neighborhood screen and then dump me back to desktop. It turned out to be a sound card driver issue. I diagnosed it by disabling the sound card in the Device Manager window (when disabled the game played fine but with no sound). I upgraded to a Santa Cruz sound card with the latest drivers and all is well. Hope this helps!
