Personally, I'm kinda surprised to see MA up there. I can understand UC for some folks since it is definitely an online kinda game and really rocks there -- I find it to be a lot more fun and natural feeling than UT2K3 on the PC. MA on the other hand has a fun (if short) campaign, but really shines in multiplayer. Its just so easy to pick up and play a quick round or 3 just for the heck of it. My current favorite is "Not It." -- really cool with any mix of mechs.
My biggest disappointment of games that I've actually bought this year would have to be Blinx. Not that I had too many real expectations going into it, having seen nothing other than the trailer, but it was a cool looking game with some great ideas that just wasn't any fun to play.
Blood Wake was a little disappointing because it was so easy to get through, but I enjoyed it enough that after I returned it, I later bought it used and beat it again.

Mario Sunshine ... I was really looking forward to the game but could never get into it once I had it.

Starfox Adventures. I had been waiting for this game ever since it was announced as Dinosaur Planet for the N64. That, plus it was Rare's swansong with Nintendo. All the hype was inevitably setting me up for disappointment, but I wasn't expecting the game to blow completely. Pretty graphics, though.

Biggest disappoints for this year? Well let's see, there is Kurt Warner and the Rams, the Los Angeles Lakers ( but I hate them, so it's all good
), oh wait, I take it you are talking about videogames...hmmm, here we go:
1. Metal Gear Solid 2 - sure it came out last year, but I finally got around to renting it mid-year and absolutely HATED it, soooo boring. I don't know how they made such a crappy sequel to an excellent game.
2. The fact that all of the Xbox games I want, and SHOULD be playing right now have been delayed until early 2003
3. Bruce Lee: Quest of The Dragon: I haven't played it, and for good reasons from what I have read. I bought an Xbox a little bit before Bruce Lee came out and absolutely loved the chance to have a BRUCE LEE FIGHTING GAME exclusive to the system I just bought. The reviews tell it all...
4. Rare being true to form and releasing games once every decade, and then seeing them get rewarded with a huge paycheck from Microsoft...

I think it's a little early to be taking pot shots at Rare. Yes, their turnout rate isn't always the fastest, but all the time that they took to release SFA they were working on other titles as well. They just might have quite a bit of stuff coming.
My concern is whether or not the talant is still there, but that's a topic for a whole other thread.

Blast Corps
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Jet Force Gemini
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Donkey Kong Country
Starfox 64 (or was it Argonaut who developed it?)
I liked Goldeneye, Conker, both Banjo's, and Starfox 64. Never finished Perfect Dark. Fell asleep playing Jet Force Gemini, Blast Corps, and Donkey Kong.
