ebgames.com bullcrap on the zelda preorder
Hello from EBgames.com!
Thanks for choosing us. Since you pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker from us we are writing to inform that you will also be receiving a limited edition bonus offer. Nintendo has announced that they will be releasing two fully playable Gamecube versions of previous Zelda games to complement the release of The Wind Waker. The two titles will be the Ocarina of Time, which was originally released for the N64, and the same disk will also contain the Ocarina of Time Master Quest. The second title is an updated release of the original N64 version which was never released outside of Japan!
If you would like to receive this bonus offer when we ship The Wind Waker (currently releasing on 3/24), you do not have to do anything further. We will add it to your order and there will be no additional cost.
The bonus offer is set to be available on February 17th and we realize many of our customers would like to receive it at that time. We will be happy to
send it to you on or near February 17th. If you choose this option you
will incur an additional $5 charge to cover the cost of shipping. You will be charged shipping for The Wind Waker and the bonus disk at the time the bonus disk ships. If you would like to receive the disk early, please respond to this email with "Bonus Disk Early" in the subject line. We will take care of the addition immediately and send a confirmation back to you.
Remember, if you do not mind waiting until the release of The Wind Waker to receive your bonus disk, you do not need to respond. We will make the addition to your order and there will be no additional charge.
maybe i should goto a B&M and get a preorder? save 5 bucks?

That's why I held out and plan on just doing it at a B&M.
I didn't figure they'd offer to ship it early at all, out of fear that people would cancel their preorders after getting the free games.
I definitely want free games in february, that gives me a month to play them before getting the new Zelda. If I got them in march with the new game I probably wouldn't touch them for quite a while.
My gaming plan currently is too finish up the games I'm currently playing and getting for x-mas (namely Metroid Prime, Kingdom Hearts, LOTR:TTT, Metroid Fusion, and Castlevania: HOD), then play the remix OOT, and then the new Zelda.

Well, I got free overnight on the new game and didn't have to pay tax on the order, so I just decided to give them their $5. It's still cheaper than a B&M, though I may get the preview disk a day or two later.

that's why they're giving the option...pay nothing if you wait, and pay a premium for as soon as they're available...not too bad--certainly nothing to get upset over or claim that EB is full of bullcrap or whatever.

A little ad should drop down. You get 20% of the money you spend back in Feb. You must shop at certain stores and the money you get back must be spent at these stores as well.
I was curious if preorders counted. My order went thru fine and it was all preorders. Then I looked up the rules for the deal and I see nothing that says preorders won't work but I'm going to e-mail and make sure.

Are you guys really so confident that B&M stores will have these bonus discs? I mean is everyone going to have them or just select places? I'm going with EB just to play it safe. Hey can't beat no tax and free shipping and I can wait for all of it at once, I've got enough games to play in the meantime.

So I don't see what there is to worry about. Just go to the store (or call them) and ask if they have the discs. Repeat until you find one.
I guess those in rural areas with few stores close to them might have more to be concerned about, but I'm sure most major retailers, and all game stores, will participate, so it still shouldn't be a big deal.
I wouldn't preorder it ahead of time, since they don't technically have to honor the deal if it isn't pre-bought during the above dates.
