Sonic Adventure, and especially the sequel, just didn't feel like sonic. Jet Grind Radio sucked hard IMO. Hate cel shading, hate hip hop/rap, hated the stupid combos for the grafiti, hated running from the cops all the time, and painting grafiti is a lame game objective imo. Shenmue looked great and had a good story, but it was just too slow and boring. Killing time inbetween stuff was lame, as was the fork lift driving. It's pretty much more of the same this generation IMO, with the exception of Virtua Figher 4 and maybe Panzer Dragoon Orta. |
If Sega goes with Nintendo VC will go on there own or get picked up by another company, there is no way there gonna wanna be exclusive to GC when Xbox and PS2 has a much better online plan with 30 million PS2's and Xboxes in homes now thats alot of games you cant sell now.
And as for Capcom bring me Devil May Cry 2 in Feb.and you can do whatever you want. |

Believe it or not under all the toys, cards, and collectibles, it actually started with a game :). The fad may have passed, but thats good because the game still remains one of the most innovative RPGs I have ever played, I am somewhat anticipating the GBA version, it sounds like they have added a lot of new features to it, but i'll wait on the reviews.
Nintendo is not going to merge with Sega for this reason. No matter what Sega does, they always seem to consistantly lose massive amounts of money time and again, even after going third party. Nintendo on the other hand has turned up profit for the number of years or so. Nintendo is not going to merge with a company that loses them millions of dollars each year. I think this megaton announcement was just an internet rumor that was somehow picked up by the mass media as fact. But then again i was also wrong about the Rare thing, anything can happen. |
The new Pokemon games sold well in Japan recently.
If I was a betting man I'd guess Sega and MS is the ticket. Sega would give them a legit Japanese developer that they covet and one who just happens to make games that appeal to Americans. Also, the mascot, traditional console RPGs and the exclusive 2k4 sports line-up wouldn't hurt. I don't care whether or not this announcement is real. I'm already pleased with all three consoles and there are a ton of games coming out next year that I'm excited about without any surprise announcements. |
Sega also has a lot of Arcade support I wonder how that would work since Nintendo has had a very anti-arcade outlook since the mid 90's.
Sonic, Shinobi, After Burner, Outrun, Panzer Dragoon, Shining Force, House of the Dead, Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia, Super Monkey Ball, Virtua Tennis, Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, Toe Jam and Earl, Jet Grind Radio, Sega GT, Daytona, Shenmue, NFL2k, NBA2k, NHL2k, Nights. I believe these are all Sega in house productions, not a bad list. If you guys can think of others I missed add on. Jet Grind is one of my favorite games, but I won't try to defend it because it is a niche title. The only comment I didn't like was the "painting graffiti is a lame objective" one. The only reason I don't like this is that it stiffles creativity and makes it sound like you would much rather have a game about killing a guy, or driving a car, because even though I love games like Mario, getting shines is a pretty lame objective IMO :) |
Maybe if Sega and Nintendo merge, they could make Mario Jet Sunshine Future, a Mario/JSRF combination, where you can be Mario and clean up graffiti or be the JSRF people and contribute to the graffiti. :p

From CBS Marketwatch, 16 DEC 17:58ET :
"Video-game industry analysts stoked speculation of a possible buyout Capcom Co. by Nintendo Co., one of the world's top three game-console makers. The sector is ripe for consolidation, and a Capcom buyout would substantially boost Nintendo's position, said James Lin, an analyst with Jeffries & Co. "All of these companies are up for sale, except Microsoft (MSFT: news, chart, profile) and Sony (SNE: news, chart, profile)." Analysts said Japan-based Nintendo is expected to make a major announcement Tuesday. Officials at both Nintendo and Capcom, of Osaka, Japan, declined comment. Nintendo could use Capcom's software to drive buys of its lagging GameCube console. GameCube is second worldwide but ranked behind Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation 2 in the United States, said analyst Paul Kaump, of Doughery & Co. LLC. Nintendo has suffered because its game software -- Pokemon, Super Mario and Donkey Kong -- cater to younger children. "They are trying to shake their image a little bit and attract older gamers," Kaump said. Capcom, which has created game franchises such as Street Fighter and Resident Evil, would be a logical buy for Nintendo, analysts said. "Nintendo has to do something to beef up its software," said analyst Shawn Milne of SoundView Technology." http://cbs.marketwatch.com/news/stor...7D&siteid=mktw |
Well cool if that's it, and it happens. I just hope they make a better controller for fighting games. I hope they are still making that one fighting game XBL but I won't get my hopes up.
|
Someone ought to tell CBS about console bashing...
Well... there it is. Looks like Nintendo makes a run at Capcom. That's too bad - I would've liked to see them stay independant cuz i'll miss their PS2 and Xbox games. Maybe Microsoft will make an 11th hour offer and steal Capcom from Nintendo. :) Not likely. |
Glad I sold my Steel Battalion then, I don't want the sequel to be Super Smash Wario Mario Party Pokeman Battalion.
|
Yeah this doesn't bug me at all, I was all for the Rare deal, and I guess this is where the Rare cash went. :p At least they put it to good use. I feel bad for all the XBox people who bought that big controller and expected another game (that would have been XBL) for it to come out. But who knows, maybe they could make an adapter to let it be used on the GCN and then put the game out on that as well, or maybe MS has a contract for the game that will cost them big money to get out of. And hopefully MS will go ahead and get another fighting game to come out on XBL, UFC or DOA would be great.
Anyway, glad to hear the big N is still fighting the good fight. |

Originally posted by Gallant Pig If they adapted the controller to that, they could have the button that controls the mech's wipers to instead have mario wipe sweat off his brow during an intense match. |
If its just the Capcom part this all makes sense. It was the Sega part I just couldn't find any logic in. Considering how focused on the Cube Capcom has been its really not a big deal, but Devil May Cry for the Cube would be pretty sweet.

I read somewhere that the announcement will be:
1. Nintendo to own Capcom 2. GBA 2 3. Wavebird will be bundled with GC I hope all of these are true, especiall GBA 2. |
so any anouncement?
|
The GBA2 would irritate me now that I have the afterburner installed. I want everyone else to remain unhappy :)
|
Yeah where is this big announcement?
As of this email, it's Tuesday 11:10am P.S.T. in California and Wednesday 4:10am in Japan. |
Can they really come out with a new GBA so soon?
The original is only a little over a year old. IF so do you think they would offer any upgrade deals? |
Bah, there is no announcement, that site just made it all up.
Now that its tuesday they updated it and are saying "All this reporter would like to say is ... I told you they weren't buying anyone. " ummm.....yes he did.......i don't know what they're talking about because he DID say they were buying someone just a few stories down from that article. |
haha... Microsoft should buy all of you for falling for this rumor.
;) j/k |
