Puzzle games for Xbox?

Hey, help a guy out. My gf and I have decided to buy a system (OK, I finally convinced her). I want the XBox, but she wants to get the game cube. Actually she doesn’t know exactly what she wants, except that she wants to be able to play puzzle type games. You know, Tetris and the like. One of her favorite games was on an old Sega, called Dr. Robotnic. Anyway, I need to know if there is anything similar to that on XBox.

Tetris Worlds is about it.

I can see why she would want a GameCube. Super Monkey Ball is a great puzzle type game and Dr Robotnic was just released again on the Sonic Mega Collection for GameCube.

Maybe you can compromise and get both.

Not only can't I afford both but there is NO way I can convince her to buy both. Jeez! There has to be some other kind of puzzle games for XBox. Man, maybe I should go for the PS2.

REMOVED OFFENSIVE COMMENT.
Off topic, but that's terrible.

There's only three puzzle games out there for XBox:

Tetris World
Super Bubble Prop
Egg Mania Eggstreme Madness

I have no idea which is best. I just got XBox and only own 3 games.

Well, she's been reading over my shoulder and said "You decide."

Hmmm... They SHOULD come out with more puzzle games for the XBox SOMEDAY.

Puzzle games, hmmm... Lesee.. If she wants puzzle games, I recommend you getting her a GBA for Xmas. They will be selling it for $50 on Black Friday at Walmart. Then you just get whatever system you want so you don't have to compromise.

Bunch of lilly whipped sadsacks... Get what you want. If she decides she doesn't want to stick around because you're selfish, then she wasn't the right girl for you.

Actually - I'd suggest the PS2 for puzzle games... GCN is a close second. Xbox isn't really a "girl's console." There's very little that my girlfriend found interesting on the Xbox. I think she favored the PS2 - In addition to puzzle games, there's plenty of music games and stuff (most can be bought for like 20 bucks or less). Gamecube has Resident Evil and Metroid (which is almost like Halo), so there's at least a few things you can look forward to. She'd like Pikmin and probably Super Monkey Ball I guess.

Oh - wait... if she's a cool chick, she'll like DOA3 for Xbox. Some girls really like fighting games and most girls I've talked to liked DOA3. My gf really dug it (and kicked my ass at it). Geez - I guess this doesn't really help you. Good luck anyway... if it were me, I'd just get what I wanted since I'm gonna be the one playing it most of the time. If my girlfriend was a gamer, then it might be more of a mutual decision. Hell - my gf bought me an Xbox on launch day. She's cool.

I think the next question should be why do you want the XBOX? It is a great system, but of the big three I generally play it the least. My gf plays more games than I do and she almost NEVER touches the Xbox either.

I agree with the guy above who says get both. You can pick up the GC, the Sega Mega Collection, and a memory card at EB games right now for $215, and there is a $50 rebate. I think it is a gift card or something, but you can use it to buy yourself a game for your shiny new Xbox.

(Actually, I think EB games is selling the XBOX for $150 now too).
Gamestop probably as well.

Also, on a minor note to Trigger, Metroid is a great game, but it won't please the Halo fans of the world. GC has plenty of great shooters though, first and foremost I would go with Timesplitters 2 (Which has co-op, multiplayer, etc).

Well, unfortunately I can only get one system right now (money and other factors) and can't see getting another for 1-2 more years. I have been seriously considering the XBox because I felt it would be the system that would last me the longest.

Well, at my house we have all 3 and the Xbox gets played the most... I guess it all comes down to taste - go figure.

Well, I just mentioned it to possibly provide some comfort for him since he sounds like he's already leaning towards the Xbox and what it has to offer (and Halo)... I know Metroid isn't a substitute for Halo. Timesplitters certainly isn't either... yuck. Timesplitters is dung... IMO.

I don't think you should go into Metroid looking for a sub for Halo as they are two completely different games. I have played both so much, and I love them both. I couldn't imagine being without either game.

I don't know, actually - apart from the controls, Metroid and Halo are pretty similar. Repetitive enemy encounters, going through areas that look the same or similar over and over, various climate environments, duck and cover enemy AI, etc... Metroid has more puzzles to it than Halo and Halo has more action and story (as far as I can tell - not done with metroid yet), but basically they're close enough.

Why not

Speaking as a girl. And a girl who likes puzzle games. My husband purchased Sims2 with our X-Box. I wasn't sure at first, but now I am totally hooked! Bejeweled and Tetris World are also my favs.

BTW, never ask a guy what to buy for a girl!

Rofl, i hadn't noticed the dates but i was thinking he needs to save for a Wii. Hopefully VC some of the old puzzle games, new Monkey Ball, easier controls for a non-gamer to get into.

I suppose by now he has made his decision.
