Hey all...

I checked around the net, and sadly there are no big NES sites that still update or have a decent messege board, so I thought I would check here. Anyway today I bought a Double Dragon II off an unsuspecting kid because it looked like an obvious prototype.
I will describe it for you..

Front of Cartridge - Has a white peice of paper stuck to it with the writing (in black ink)

" DDII Ver. 6
89.7.10"

The back has a 'mailing' type label on it that says
" ACCLAIM ENTERTAINMENT, INC
189 South Street
(516) 922-2400"

and below that it says written in black ink
"Doube Dragon II:
THE REVENGE
Control #91289"

Can anyone direct me in the right direction?

That definitely sounds like a prototype to me. Most of them do have a small white label on the front with typed (or even written) writing with usually the game name. NES World has a ton of prototypes pics for various games if you need to look and compare, but I would definitely like to see it for myself if you get a chance. Try using their forum if you need another opinion.

Are prototypes worth anything?

Usually they are. There are so many collectors out there that if one pops up on eBay, they usually fight over it and get the price way up there. The only ones that are really worth the money are those of games that were never released (i.e. Earthbound Zero, California Raisins, Crash 'N The Boys Ice Challenge). The others are just mainly for collection purposes only to those who shell out the cash for them.

Any collector would pay a high price for them, but then you're average shmoe can just DL the ROM if they want to play the game.
