Game formats you'd like to see on XBox Live

Now that XBL seems to be a resounding success, what kinds of genres would you like to see on the format?

I'm hoping for some puzzle games, and some games to get the casual gamer online, such as quiz or gameshow type games where people could compete and play. Something similar to the question-and-answer type games that are available at Boxerjam.com or games that used to be available online like You Don't Know Jack and Acrophobia. Also, I'd like to see games like Life, Scrabble, Risk, Stratego, etc...

Your thoughts?

We need more fighting games, MKA, DOA3. I'd love to be able to play someone over XBL.

NASCAR with a full 43 car field. That would be the ultimate playing experience.

Actually, any closed course racing game done well would be a blast.

I would love the so called "god games" like Age of Empires and other build your empire strategy games. I know the biggest obstacle would be not having a mouse like device to play. But I'm sure they could create something wireless that you could fit in the palm of your hand that would give you all the capabilities of a mouse.

Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3

I wouldn't call it a success yet. Successful for gamers yes. Not yet for MS.

I would like to have time splitters 3 online. Also some online tetris matches and puzzle games would be money.

A good game of Live Golf would be relaxing after a day of slaying some opponents on UC and GR.

I also agree that a NASCAR LIVE game would fill in the void.

I really want an online golf game as well but I'd rather go the Tiger Woods way than have it be like Hot Shots.

It would be great playing in groups of 4 and playing a very slow paced but competitive game.

I know Hot Shots Online is coming but someone better make a more realistic version for LIVE. PLEASE!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm............. I have an X-Arcade Stick in my MAME machine. I think it would come in handy for fighting games on XBox Live. Looks like some people are actually going to have an advantage. I won't be able to hook up the communicator to it, though.

Bye bye level playing field! mua ha ha

I always thought a cool feature for sports games is to be able to download weather reports for a specific game or stadium during the season. So if you wanted to play Detroit at Chicago last week, and start it up at gametime, the game would prompt to go online and retrieve real-time or game-time weather reports and apply them to the game.

The board games seem like a good idea. Risk, Axis and Allies, Acquire. Those would be fun with the right rules and enough updating to make them interesting.

I like unrealistic racers that still require skill. My two favorites are Mario Kart and Uniracers. Games like those with a battle mode for a Kart game and stunt tracks and points for a game like Uniracers would be sweet, with worldwide ranking of stunt points, records for each track, and top battle winners. Multiplayer games can be ridiculously fun, but if one player is significantly better than the other players, it can be frustrating. A world of gamers to play against would ensure top notch competition.

One old school game I'd like to see return is Archon. Online I believe this would be a great game (and two player off line too I guess). I loved the character classes in this game, and the battles were always excting. Phoenix vs. Basilisk online would rock!

You know there's an Archon mod for Quake III, right? I think there's multiplayer with that as well, but not completely sure...
