Poorly designed lighting, and this game would not be what it is, and if they can't pull off the lighting textures on the PS2 or Cube, then playing the game is pointless.

Tamrok,
Thank you for pointing out that ridiculous idea of GT3 using 25% of the PS2 power. The PS2 has been nothing but a marketing gimmic since a year before it was launched! If everyone will look at the first year's games then they will see that only SSX was a game that the DC didn't have an answer for. There were debates about DOA2 actually being BETTER on the DC. A system always has more to offer if a company wants to spend the time squeezing every little bit out but what Sony proved to be the reason for their succes with the PS2, which was EASILY tapped power, was something they totally forgot about with the PS2 and it SHOWS. In my opinion the PS2 has held back the graphics of games in a LARGE part due to the large number of ports from this weaker system. I've spoken out about the GC lacking in sports games more than any system but I will tell you that if someone started from scratch with a Madden game then it would come out WAY better than the crap that EA put out due to sloppily throwing out a port with no effort. Just my opinion.

The Madden GC ports have been fine. It was the GC version of NFL2K3 that sucked.
I don't think sports games are really held back much, there's just only so much that can be done when you have 22 players on the field, and complex AI.
I don't think Madden would be much better if EA designed it for the X-box. I mean Fever is made just for the X-box, and most think it's mediocre. I don't even get the appeal of the graphics. The player models look goofy to me and the animation seems weird.

Fair enough.
My point was that Madden and NFL2K3 already look great, and play fantastic, so who cares?
All an X-box centered version would do is improve the graphics a little, and I could care less. I'm not a graphics whore. The games on all three of the next gen systems look more than good enough for me, minor graphical improvements just don't concern me. I really wouldn't mind if games never looked any better than they do now. The more realistic games get, the more of a turn off it is for me. I like that games look like games. It helps to escape from the real world. Of course I'm in the minority on this, but graphics and sound just don't matter much to me. As long as EA keeps tweaking the AI, and play modes I'll be a happy camper.

Comparisons I can think of that are not ports but represent something similar are
SOCOM------- Ghost Recon -- GR easily looks better to me in many ways
GT3 ----------- PGR, Rallisport -- pretty close by many opinions
MGS2 --------- Splinter Cell -- not comparable. SC wins hands down
Red Faction/2- Halo rules over an PS2 but Metroid comes in and puts up a good fight. Hmm.. too close to call for me
Ratchet&Clank-- BLINX - Close on graphics but R&C rule here
add in Mario Sunshine though and you have to give Mario the prize (although I actually prefer Sly Cooper to them all)

My only reservation is that it seems to be too stealth oriented for my tastes, as that type of gameplay leads to too much trial and error IMO. But I'll give it a rent next year.
