Weird...I wonder how they could have screwed this one up for the XBOX?
It was almost a sure-buy for me, but now I think I'll skip it. EGM _really_ bashed it.
Oh well, that just makes the quality games of the XBOX that much more affordable!

They didn't screw it up from what I've heard - it's identical to Serious Sam 1 and 2 on the PC.
That being said, not everybody is fond of the kill - kill - KILL! Aspect of the series.
I think it'd make a good co-op game personally (EGM even complimented it on that.)
Keep in mind, EGM also gave a 4.5 to Deathrow which is also getting rave and slamming reviews, weird 'eh.
Oh and also remember, Serious Sam on XB is both games - both of which were Budget titles to begin with.

The criticism on this game is not about the gameplay, but on how poorly this game was ported over to the Xbox. This game does not use any of the power of the Xbox. Look at this picture of the split screen mode:
Look at those horrible borders on the sides. This is the Xbox not PSX/N64.
Here is another strange graphical problem in the game taken from the IGN review:
Serious Sam deserved so much better on Xbox.

The more immediate and curious problem comes with what appears to be v-synch problems...Almost never seen on a console game (I can only think of one other instance), this game essentially has v-synch turned off. Something seemingly exclusive to the PC, v-synch basically keeps the game from artifacting. Turn it off and the framerate may improve, but the game suffers some visual hiccups. This makes no sense since TVs have basically the same refresh rate, but whatever is going on in the graphics engine, it's the same experience as a PC with no v-synch. Essentially, when you turn, you can actually see the screen refreshing, creating misconnecting lines on the screen that can best be described as wrinkles. You may watch Serious Sam in action, turn and say, "that doesn't look right, but I don't know why." For a game that requires you to turn often, this can become quite annoying and it will occur even when there are no enemies onscreen.

I remember before it was even being talked about coming to the Xbox, Extended Play didn't think much of either 1 or 2 for the PC. Seems like they gave SS2 a 2 outa 5 for the PC.
Although I play this game on my pc alot, I didn't think it would score that high on the Xbox. But that's usually the way games that I really enjoy get rated anyhow.
I'm definately getting this one.

TechTV gave the first one a 3/5, they basically said it was too short but technically good.
I remember seeing the review for the second one, they hated it saying it was just too much mindless killing and nothing else.
