The console versions are reportedly much better. They don't have the loading screens and the ai is much sharper. Also, the controls aren't clunky.
That's what you get when Gearbox handles a console to PC port. It also doesn't bode well for the Halo port.

Yeah, I had the same problem. The first time I played it was really choppy so I lowered the settings and restarted (although I can play most games at high quality, I have a 2.2ghz p4, 512mb ram, gf3 ti200, sb live). I tried twice after that but each time it crashed in the beginning
. I was really looking forward to this game, I think I might just get one of the console versions instead.

Same here. It's amazing how bad that demo was (I probably shouldn't say that publicly, but man what happened). I was really looking forward to this game - hopefully the console versions will be better.

the demo ran fine on my system but the AI totally ruined the game. Cut scenes were absolutely pathetic too.... why the hope that the console version will be better?

The console version is being developed by a completely different team, so it'll be a different game.
I downloaded and played the demo, and I want every second of my life that the demo stole from me back. It was horrible. Loading times were crap, the framerate was crap even though the visuals weren't that great, the cut-scenes were stupid, the level design was boring and uninspired, and the gameplay was generic same old, same old FPS gameplay. What pissed me off most was that you put a dozen rounds into a guy's chest and he'd just run around, pull out his gun and shoot you like he's perfectly fine. In this day and age in gaming, I absolutely despise any action game where that happens.
You're right, if you haven't already, don't bother downloading it. It's horrible.

What the hell game were you guys playing?? This game ran great on my machine at high settings. I had awesome framerates and the graphics were sweet. This was a real improvement over AUF. I'm not a fan of James Bond in general, but playing this game at E3 I was really impressed. The graphics aren't the best, but they're on par with most of what's out now in FPS for the PC. The gadgets are all really cool. The enemy AI was pretty good too. I had zero problems with the PC demo. This is the best 007 game so far (admittedly not a difficult feat). I'm really confused now. Also - afaik, the game is made for the PC and being ported to consoles simultaneously.

I'm not complaining about the in-game graphics or the framerate. They are pretty good. But the FMV movies are incredibly grainy.
The loading breaks from section to section are stupifying. The are not in the console versions, yet a PC can't handle big levels?!
The collission detection system is terrible. I shot a guy in the head 10 times with sniper bullets and he didn't go down. Body shots are even worse.
The AI is subpar. I stood right in front of a guy for 5 seconds before he saw I was there. The empty space must be hard to see through.
You are wrong about the last part. The game wasn't made for the PC and ported to consoles.
Development began with Eurocom Entertainment Software who already had Bond experience under their belt, "The World Is Not Enough" for the N64. Shortly thereafter, EA decided they wanted a PC version and brought Gearbox in to collaborate with Eurocom.
I truely believe the XBox and Gamecube versions will blow away the garbage Gearbox churned out. One of the Gamecube IGN editors has already stated the majority of the problems in the PC demo does not exist in the Gamecube version. No chopped up maps to load, no collision detection problems, etc.

Glad to find this post - now I don't feel like the lone ranger in the way I felt about this demo.
Buggy, clunky, slow loading and seems to be a resource hog. And I have an Athlon 2200+, GF4 ti4400. The gameplay seems pretty sucky too. It definitely does feel like a port (I know it is, just saying it shows too). No skin off of my back to have tried the demo but I agree it was a waste of time.

Well - I played Nightfire on a Gamecube tonight at that Cubeclub thing and it looked pretty weak to me... The PC version looked much better to me... With all the trash being talked about it, I'm gonna have to fire it up again to double check and see if I missed something. It seems to me though that the PC version is way better than the console version.
