Nba2k3 - Wtf?
I remember reading post (which I now can't find) in an old thread about the players stopping before they passed the ball.
I recently purchased NBA2K3 as part of the TRU Buy 2, Get 1 deal and I'm frustrated as hell with it.
What kind of fast breaks take place when you have to stop to pass the ball every time?? It kills the pace of this game. After a while do you just forget about it? Normally I'd suggest I'm just missing something but for the life of me I wouldn't know what.
Also, what type of camera movement and angle do you like to use? I've been sampling some of them and haven't really found one that I like a whole lot.
Help! If I can't learn to love this game now Vice City and Animal Crossing will just take over my life and this game will never see the light of day!

Icon passing is what i use in fast break situations and it works for me. It seems to me that analog passing on fast breaks causes the players to stop....
As far as camera angles are concerned, I use the default angle. I actually tried the side view which looks cool but is somewhat difficult to play from.....
Try to stick with it 'cause it's a great game !!

Timing is usually your best trick along with icon passing. Try to get used to it. I don't even use analog passing. It seems pretty useless.
I also use default camera. It's the best one. It also makes rebounding easier.
If you use one player throughout the whole game (all auto switches off), then fast breaks become very simple. Just call for the ball after the rebound, rush up the court and you'll usually draw the other defender off, then just pass to the cutter.

jdpatri i totally agree with you, this game is loaded with bugs like that. there are also moves you can do to get around guys every play and sometimes the computer pushes you out of bounds, i dont know how this game got good reviews. my roomate and i played it for an hour or two and then he wound up returning it because it lacks any kind of depth. it just seems like sega rushed the release of this game, i actually think it is worse than 2k2.

Thanks. I'll try to use the icon passing. I was messing around with it yesterday and it never dawned on me to try it during a fast break.
I'm sure I'll get used to the camera angle but I've logged seemingly thousands of hours on some of the older NBA Live games starting way back when it was Lakers vs. Celtics on the Genesis up to NBA Live '98. The last few years of Live had been so poor (which I thankfully never bought), I decided it was time for a change.

Yeah, icon passing is the way to go, especially for fast breaks. If only it was analog. I was really frustrated with the pace of the game before I found this out.
Basically, the same players get out and run on the fast break most of the time, so you can pretty much reliable pass out to them as soon as you rebound. I think the stat is offensive awareness, or something like that. For instance, on the Clippers, it's always Odom and Q. Richardson that are running out on the fast break. It's how Q. gets most of his points in my games.
I don't know if this was the main thing, but I initially got very frustrated with the game, and then after a few hours, I got the hang of it. I rented Live, and it just feels too cartoony now.

This game took me a long time of playing, but I'm finally liking it. Give it several games to get the control down. Its not perfect, but its still a good basketball game overall. Its also much better to play against people. You will learn all the controls much faster.

That is of course if you also though wtf meant "where's the food?" and not that other bad word.

Who is on Live with this already? Can you play steetball? My hand is now a crippled claw due to my abuse of the streetball mode.
I keep going with Iverson/Erving/Jordan against the evil team of Thomas/McHale/Kobe. It just never gets old.

I haven't gotten into streetball yet. I'm still trying to resurrect the Warriors from the NBA's crapper.
I'm having trouble understanding the salary cap calculations... I was overpaying Fortson, Foyle and Dampier something fierce but if I waive them, I don't clear any room under the cap. Is this more like real life than most sports sims? ...do I have to trade or not resign these salaries to get rid of them? I refuse to pay Dampier 85 points.

Nice.
