2 Weapons people? Come on you are leaving out one VERY important detail in battle. Grenades!!!!! In what other game do you play that you grenades might almost be essential to battle. I thought grenades were implemented so well, mapping them to their own button, instead of having it be a weapon on its own. Nothing better than lobbing in a grenade and clearing out the survivors. So if you count them (which you should) you actually carry 3 weapons. And if you want to get technical there are 2 types of grenades so perhaps Master Chief carries 4?

You made a terrible mistake complaining about Halo in the gaming forum... a lot of people treat the game as their own personal Jesus, and they act as if your blaspheming if you say anything negative about it.
I couldn't agree more about the controls on the Warthog... I found all the other vehicle great, but the Warthog was useless to me. And the levels were incredibly repetitive. Most of them are passably so, but one (you haven't reached) was so repetitive I thought the game was glitching... you do the same thing over and over and over and over and over. Unexcusable.
That said, the physics are grand. I love the weapons, and I don't mind the two weapons limit (although to be realistic, I think size should be a factor... you can either carry a regular pistol and a plasma pistol or a rocket launcher and a sniper rifle? That doesn't make much sense, since the former weigh less and take up much less space. IMO, pistols should only count as half a weapon.). And the Scorpion tank just rocks.

There are games I like a lot more than Halo, although Halo is a pretty damn good FPS title.

Anyway - I liked Halo and as I suggested - if it's not your cup-o-tea, then play something else. I thought it was a bit repetitive and there are lots more FPS games out there that are better than Halo - but it was still alot of fun and IMHO the best FPS ever to grace a console (no offense to the Goldeneye lovers, I didn't kill your mom
)... Still - alot of people love Timesplitters 2 and I hated it. Same goes for MGS2. As many people have already suggested, not every game is for everyone. Starting a topic saying you dislike something that is generally considered to be great by most people is going to attract plenty of opposition no matter where it's done. It's just a controversial thing to do.

I feel like HALO is more strategic than the typical FPS. The way the personal shield is set up, the 2 gun limit and the incredible AI make for a game that requires you to be more thoughtful in your approach to each new area. Running and gunning is a good way to get wasted fast. That's why I personally like it so much more that a game like Soldier of Fortune (whose only "original" innovation is more gore).
Yes, the levels are repetitive, but as stated before, that is because of the severe time constraints that Bungie was under to finish in time for the XBOX launch. They only had a limited number on environments created so they needed to use them over again. Silent Cartographer, the most extensive (and best level IMO) was made exclusively as a show piece for E3. This is why you get to see all facets of the game through this level. They liked it so much (and needed more levels) that they put it in the game.
Give it more time, it's a game that you have to get used to and maybe you'll like it. If not, Unreal Championship comes out shortly, that may be more to your liking.

If you like the "blast away" shooters, HALO is a bit different in that department.

Haven't really played either of those games, but as far as strategy goes, nothing is quite as fun as flanking a bunkered down elite on legendary while playing co-op.

There are so many ways to play Deus Ex that it's really a different game for each person. I pumped up my character's sneaking and shooting abilities so much that I was like a ninja... and it was incredibly rewarding to sneak unnoticed through an enemy base, silently killing opponents.

My own personal Jesus, amen to that brother. Just give it a couple more days, let it marinate, my friend said the same thing, how it's overhyped and stuff, but a couple of days of playing and co-op games, he's really into it.
I'll probably be playing this game for a while, and atleast it doesn't give me the motion sickness I get from TimeSplitters with the goldeneye controls. If you still don't like it after playing for a while, just return it. Whatever lifts the boat you know, some people in this forum, loved that flick Dude Where's my car and I'm like "Did I see the same movie as you guys?"

I agree.
For the first time I played in coop mode with another person and it was fun. HALO, I know this because I finshed it,I never finish games.
I also find myself just going back and playing levels just because it's so fun.

well, the game only cost me $26ish, so i am going to keep it regardless.
what is all these "just return it" stuff i am hearing? what stores are you guys able to return opened games?
certanilty not at BestBuy, Target, Circuit City, CompUSA, walmart, kmart, etc.... i guess ebgames lets you, but relastically "just return it" isnt an option at most retail stores!
the game is visaully beautiful, has good physics, play control, etc.... but in general i think that game is being given more credit then is due.... this isnt halo bashing, i have listed the reasons, my proof or evidence if you will in this psot multiple times, constructive criticisim....
and many, many people have already agreed in this thread that the game is very repetiitve, which is my main gripe!

You've only played the first two levels, in which the first level is basically a tutorial level (unless you play it on legendary). Halo isn't perfect, but, two of your complaints are pretty nit-picky.
You're complaining because you have to shoot down to kill grunts and the game is repetitive. Well, if you have to shoot at everything that is at "normal" level, then wouldn't it be more repetitive? Where's the challenge if everything is at normal level, you'd be reducing one dimension of the 3D world. BTW: you're shooting at your feet because you're too close.
You only get to carry two weapons for play balance. It's no fun if you can whip out your rocket launcher or sniper rifle every time you're in a jam.
I do agree that Halo does get repetitive later in the game. That didn't bother me so much because I was having fun and it was built into the story, besides, every game gets repetitive.
Halo is unique in that it totally immerses you into the story. Didn't you feel like you were fighting alongside the marines?? Did you notice the grass on level 2!?? You didn't think the enemy and marine blurbs were funny?? And the music ramps up as the action becomes more intense. Just wait until you meet your first hunter. The positive points far outweigh the minor flaws.
Also, if you can find a friend to play with, the co-op mode is a blast.

As for the strategy aspect, I should have been more specific. I feel like the COMBAT (vs the actual missions) in HALO is more strategic than game like UT, Quake, Doom, SOF etc.. If you approach the battle with some thought (like when to use frags vs plasma nades, using cover etc.) you'll have way more success and fun. Planning gets you even further when playing co-op.

I agree that the levels are repetitive, but the running back through the levels makes the story more complete and realistic. I applaud Bungie for being able to do that because I'd rather have to go through the levels twice than have the game end too early.
I also would rather play a game over and over that has me hooked to the story than a game that has 100 levels and no story.
That's why I continue to play this game and never get bored with it.
