PS2 question- Madden/NCAA compatibility

PS2 question- Madden/NCAA compatibility
Did a search and couldn't find the answer. Also, could not find this in either of the instruction manuals.
I got NCAA 2003 first and just finished my 3rd Dynasty year. I just got Madded 2003 and finished Franchise year #1.
I was trying to upload the NCAA draft class for the Madden draft. However, I keep getting an error message.
Do you have to match up the years (i.e. Dyansty year 1 with Franchise year 1)? Or do I have a problem with my game?
