Why shouldn't I buy a PS2?
Other than really not having a lot of spare cash right now, I could easily swing buying a PS2..
I really really really NEED GTA:VC...

If it wasn't for GTA: Vice City, I would sell my PS2. I say get one. Price is low and tons of good cheap games (greatest hits) that will be a nice compliment to GTA:VC

Hold off a little to gamble on the price dropping again within 30 days of your purchase. Buy in the middle of next month. Other than that, by all means, get one.

You shouldn't have sold it in the first place.
But seriously though, If Vice City's all that interests you, I'd hold off for a better deal. $275 (PS2, Mem Card, game) is a bit high for one game. Especially for a system you decided you didn't want to own a couple of months ago.
Personally, there's no way I'd part with my PS2, it's been getting the bulk of my gaming time since I picked it up in May.

That would be excellent if they had a price drop around Thanksgiving. If I pick on a new PS2 this Tuesday, I would just make it under the 30 day mark if the price did in fact drop by the Friday after Thanksgiving.

In fact I do not expect another price drop till around E3 next year. By then I would think they will lower it to $149.99.
Of course the XBox is the wild card since if they drop their price the others will follow. Since the XBox is in third place this could happen although they are trying to hold the price at $199.99 by bundling more into it to help sales.

You can probably bank on GTA: VC not being out on the PC until at least Q1 of next year (probably start of Q2).
Sad that it will take them that long as GTA was once a PC only game...

If MS only cared about U.S. sales, they wouldn't have released the X-box in Japan, Europe, etc.

Do you already have another system?
Personally, I wouldn't buy a whole other system for just one or two games. Especially if there are many games that you're planning to buy on the system you already own.
I have just a PS2. And though I've been tempted to buy the other systems to play games like Halo, Mario Sunshine, etc., and the deals are getting better and better, I have a hard enough time affording all the PS2 games I want. Having another system will just make it worse.
Of course, if you have the money to spend, why not? The PS2 is a great system, and if there are other games exclusive to it that you want, by all means enjoy.

True, but it's pointless to just look at one market. Overall worldwide sales are the bottom line in the business, for all three companies.

This post isn't about Xbox (TBALL has that) or who is in 2nd or 3rd place, it's why TBALL should or shouldn't buy a PS2. I say hold onto your shorts TBALL and wait to see if a bundle happens. You'll want to kick yourself in the nuts if they try and one up MS with a bundle.
